- qpopper2.4 for NextStep
-
- I downloaded the latest version of qpopper (2.4) in :
- ftp://ftp.peak.org/pub/next/submissions/qpopper.2.4.NIHS.bs.tar.gz
- ftp://ftp.peak.org/pub/next/submissions/qpopper.2.4.NIHS.bs.README
- and most likely will move to:
- ftp://ftp.peak.org/pub/next/apps/mail/qpopper.2.4.NIHS.bs.tar.gz
- ftp://ftp.peak.org/pub/next/apps/mail/qpopper.2.4.NIHS.bs.README
-
- The latest (freeware) version of qpopper can always be obtained from :
- ftp://ftp.qualcomm.com/eudora/servers/unix/popper
-
- This version of qpopper has been compiled quad-fat (next/inter/hppa/sparc) using
- the GNU dbm library. In the qpopper directory I have included the libgdbm.a,
- which can be found in the qpopper.2.4.NIHS.bs/gnu directory. The GNU library
- is also compiled quad-fat (test/conversion programs included).
-
- To compile(if desired), install and configure qpopper read the files
- INSTALL and qpopper-NeXT.rtf in the qpopper.2.4.NIHS.bs directory.
-
- While qpopper is compiled quad-fat I have only tested it in my home machine
- next/motorola running NS3.3.
-
- I have no idea if it compiles/runs on OpenStep.
-
- Enjoy.

- Here is the Qpopper README file
-
- Welcome to Qpopper, a POP3 server for most versions of UNIX
- ------------------------------------------------------------
-
- What is Qpopper?
- ----------------
- Qpopper supports the widely used POP3 protocol for downloading Internet
- e-mail used by many popular e-mail clients. Qopper does not include a
- message transfer agent or SMTP support and normally works with standard
- UNIX mail transfer agents such as sendmail or smail.
-
-
- Installing and documentation
- ----------------------------
- The file INSTALL gives detailed install instructions. If you want to get
- started quickly, usually you can type "configure" to generate the Makefile
- for your platform, and then type "make".
-
- Detailed documentation is available the doc directory. In particular the
- file doc/Release.Notes describes the changes from one version to the next.
-
-
- Acknowledgments
- ---------------
- Qpopper is the work of many individuals and organization around the world.
- The original work was done at UC Berkeley and many have contributed since.
- QUALCOMM now maintains and distributes qpopper. While we don't have an
- accurate collection of the names of all, their contributions are appreciated.
-
-
