- Help with ModPlayer
-
- Version 2.5 of June, 25th 1992
-
- ModPlayer is a program to play back so called "Modules"
- created with the "Soundtracker" application (and more or
- less compatible derivatives thereof) on the Amiga. Most of
- the sound effects made possible by the Soundtracker
- software and the Amiga hardware can be played back with
- the ModPlayer application.
-
- ModPlayer was developed from a Module-Playback
- application for Sun Sparcstations, written by Liam Corner
- and Marc Espie.
-
- Ingo Feulner adapted the playback code for use on
- the NeXT and privided its rudimentary integration into
- Objective-C.
-
- Matthias Zepf developed the User Interface and
- provided general help and enthusiasm. This version
- was made possible by a stroke of genius on his part.
-
- Markus Stoll contributed the physical theory and the
- FFT code needed for the display of the sound spectrum.
- He also made sure the communication with the Window
- Server was error free.

- Hints for the use of Version 2.5:
-
- • Programming the playback order is not yet implemented.
-
- • Changes from version 2.0 to version 2.2:
- - ModPlayer will no longer crash after completely playing
- back a module.
- - "Warnings" while compiling ModPlayer are removed.
- - The output of the spectrum analyser was incorrect in
- special cases. Now the display is all right.
- - ModPlayer is now available in German and English.
-
- • Changes from version 2.2 to version 2.3:
- - ModPlayer now works with NeXTstep 3.0 Beta.
- - Play back position is displayed.
- - Error messages are localized.
- - New inspector (more information is now displayed in
- the main window.)
- - Play back time (in minutes and seconds) is displayed.
-
- • Changes from version 2.3 to version 2.4:
- - Smaller main window.
- - Preferences.
- - Fixed some bugs in the playback code.
- - Better English and new French language project.
- - "Edit" menu to copy this help text.
- - Changed calculation to 11 kHz. This strongly reduces
- CPU load. Now ModPlayer should run correctly on
- 68030 Cubes and Colorstations.
- - You may select the Sound Spectrum's refresh frequency
- with the "Spectrum" slider in the Preferences panel.
-
- • Changes from version 2.4 to version 2.5:
- - Improved sound quality. Now the quality is similar to
- V2.3, but it does not need so much CPU as V2.3 does.
-
- Known bugs:
-
- • The slider adhustments for speed and stereo take effect
- after a delay of approximately one or two seconds.
-
- Please send bug reports and suggestions to the
- address given above.
- We are awaiting your reports about ModPlayer
- Version 2.5 running on 68030 Cubes and Color-
- stations.
-
- When creating new language projects (like Spanish,
- Italian, etc.) please send them to us!
