  13. Announcing:  an alpha version of TeXview, available now from
  14. labrea.stanford.edu in ~ftp/pub get texview.tar.Z.  Requires
  15. dvips5483.tar.Z and dvips5475lib.tar.Z, so if you don't have
  16. them, get them too.

  18. This is one of the *last* alpha releases, so if you have
  19. any comments or suggestions, please get them to be soon.

  49. Just a few bugs fixed; nothing really major new (yet).  More
  50. neat things to follow.  Mainly intended to accompany all the
  51. neat new reencoding features of dvips 5.483.

  57.    If you are using PostScript fonts, you will need to get
  58.    dvips 5.482 and this release and install both at the
  59.    same time.  This new release depends on the texps.lpro
  60.    supplied there, and that texps.lpro is incompatible with
  61.    the old dvips texps.lpro.  This is unfortunate, but
  62.    necessary, to get around some bugs in the old texps.lpro
  63.    and to make things work a little nicer.

  67. Major aesthetic changes again:  the pendulum has swung.  I
  68. think this will be the final interface; menus and tear-offs
  69. work well and should be encouraged over button-heavy
  70. interfaces.  Let me know what you think.

  73. next time around for both TeX command and Console windows.
  74. Uniformity between command-keys and normal keys by simply
  75. changing normal key events to command key events.  Many other
  76. changes . . . can select hide on launch in Preferences.  Can

  81. Try typing a page number when the TeX preview window is key; the
  82. random-page gadget will automatically start up.

  97. Many, many, many interface changes.  Removed autoactivation
  98. feature; replaced with command key window that can stay around.
  99. (This should be less confusing for the user.)  TeXview window
  100. now closable; will reopen on reactivation.  Optional hide on
  101. deferred.  Remember which windows were open for next activation.
  102. Font selection for console windows should work now.

  106. Various bug fixes.  Do not select the Services menu item yet;
  107. it's not operational.

  111. Added automatic-re-running of TeX on activation of TeXview if
  112. the dvi file or tex file is new.  (If the dvi file is new *and*
  113. newer than the TeX file, then just it is read; else, the new
  114. TeX file is processed.)  You have to enable this in Preferences
  115. if it isn't already enabled.  (If the change is to some file
  116. input'ed or include'd by TeX, then you'll just have to hit `t'
  117. yourself.  Also, for LaTeX users, add %&latex at the top of the
  118. file and this will work for you too.)

  173. I'm releasing this a bit prematurely, because I made a major
  174. structural goof---I can't abuse vfork() like I currently am;
  175. TeXview runs out of processes after a total of 100 prints or
  176. re-TeX's.  Of course, we want the program to run forever, so
  177. this is clearly unacceptable.
