  3. X Version 1.0 provides a crosshair following the actual position
  4. of the mouse cursor within any NeXTStep application. This feature
  5. supports people working with image processing tools or typesetting
  6. programs to control the alignment of text or images visually,
  7. instead of selecting each object and requesting the position of it
  8. with an inspector, remembering its actual position and compare it
  9. with the values of an other one. Another feature is the zoom function:
  10. The application's icon displays a magnified area around the current
  11. position of the mouse cursor so the user can easily determinate the
  12. exact location of the hotspot. This allows easy detection of which
  13. control point would be affected or what point a fill function would
  14. start from when the mouse button is pressed. A nice feature is the
  15. application icon itself. The icon acts as a power switch: whenever
  16. it is touched, the crosshair will either be activated or deactivated,
  17. depending on its current state. You can also change the behaviour of
  18. X in various ways by setting the appropriate values in the prefer-
  19. ences panel: color, size and distance of the crosshair's axes and
  20. some other stuff. X provides all features in demo mode, however the
  21. application will terminate itself after a short while.
