  12. This is version 2.04 of Xedoc NetInfo Editions. It is available for the
  13. following platforms:

  15. AIX:        Tested for AIX 3.x. Not available yet for AIX 4.x
  16. SunOS:      Available for all releases.
  17. Solaris:    Tested under 2.3 and 2.4
  18. HP-UX:      Tested for HP-UX 9.0x. Not available yet for HP-UX 10.x
  19. AuspexOS:   Available for all releases.
  20. DEC OSF/1:  Tested for release 1.x, 2.x and 3.x.

  23. YP/NIS SETUP:

  26. Before NetInfo can be installed on your system PLEASE READ THE DOCUMENTATION
  27. regarding configuration of the server as a YP/NIS master. NetInfo works by
  28. redirecting YP/NIS lookup calls to NetInfo databases.

  31. LICENSE PASSWORDS:

  34. Correct NetInfo setup requires the specification of a license password to be
  35. typed during the installation process.
  36.  
  37. All NetInfo Editions purchases are shipped with a 30 day temporary license
  38. that is used for installation purposes.
  39.  
  40. You are required to run the "xhostid" utility program, found in the "utils"
  41. directory, and send the output to your VENDOR in order to receive a permanent
  42. password license.

  48. You can down-load the latest version of NetInfo from our FTP site:

  52. Xedoc NetInfo Editions software WILL NOT WORK without a correctly installed
  53. license password!

  66. The main body of the message MUST contain the output of the "xhostid" utility
  67. program that is shipped with NetInfo in the "utils" directory when you
  68. un-compress and un-tar the distribution files.
  69.  
  70. The "xhostid" utility program is also available as a separate file from the
  71. above FTP site

  73. All evaluation license requests are logged and only one license shall be
  74. given per hostid or user. If you require a greater evaluation period, please
  75. email the same address above, with the main body of the message containing
  76. the word "HELP".

  82. The Xedoc NetInfo Editions Install Guide is provided in PostScript form for
  83. the convenience of FTP users. Please read these carefully. Xedoc Software
  84. Development Pty. Ltd. offers limited email support for FTP evaluation users
  85. for the duration of their evaluation license. Most questions regarding
  86. installation of Xedoc NetInfo Editions will have answers in the NetInfo
  87. Install Guide, and general NetInfo information can be found by searching the
  88. on-line documentation for NetInfo in Digital Librarian on NEXTSTEP systems.
