  5. JetPilot is the solution for most printing problems. It
  6. allows to use the inexpensive BubbleJet printers as well
  7. as a selection of the most popular laser printers.
  8. No need for slow or expensive PostScript printers, just
  9. use any supported standard printer.
  10. But even for PS printers it is a speed improvement.
  11.  
  12. SPECIAL: Now includes an enhanced driver for the NeXT laser.

  26. FIXED IN 2.3

  28. • Printing on some of the newer Epson printers like the StylusXLPro got wrong
  29.   paper settings and caused strange behavior, like additionals paperfeeds.
  30. • BugFix in the StylusColorDriver. Printing with error diffusion 
  31.   and 720dpi and a splitting threshold like 4 and 8 could causes a 
  32.   PostScript error.
  33. • Printing with enabled page splitting could render splits with different
  34.   printing settings.
  35. • If JetPilot should print on different printer types via the same comm class,
  36.   it sometimes works just for the first one printer. The only workaround was
  37.   rebooting the system.
  38. • Wrong settings for the older LaserJet Printers like LaserJet II and III.
  39.   Printouts looked damaged.
  40. • Some printer defaults couldnˋt be saved from JetPilotManager.
  41. • If pagesplitting is enabled, sometimes local printing of documents with 10 
  42.   or more pages could stop after a few pages.

  46. • new HP LaserJets 5, 5L, 5M, 5P, 5N, 5MP, 5Si and 5SiMX added.
  47. • new HP DeskJets 820C and 680C added.
  48. • Epson StylusColor IIs, LQ150 and LQ300 added.
  49. • NeXT Laser Printer added.
  50. • Nice level added to control system performance.
  51. • Added a IPCFile comm class to the driver, which enables to print to a file
  52.   instead to a printer. The file includes all printer settings for the
  53.   specifiied printer.
  54. • Enhanced the ipc comm classes for debuging purpose. There is a verbose mode
  55.   which can be enabled via PrinterManager. This feature is just for the case
  56.   you ran into problems.

  63. offers a "compatible" mode, simply select the printer,
  64. which seems to be most likely. (all without warranty)

  146. INSTALLATION
  147. ============
  148. Remove all previouse JetPilot releases. You have to
  149. be root to install the driver. Unpack the ftp stuff:
  150.   gunzip JetPilot.2.3.NIHS.b.tar.gz
  151.   tar -xf JetPilot.2.3.NIHS.b.tar
  152. Then follow the installation guide in the supplied
  153. ./Documents directory.

  156. DEMO LICENSE
  157. ============
  158. Just start the JetPilotManager.app and follow the license
  159. system into the license panel. There you may press the
  160. button DEMO. With the integrated order system you may
  161. also order a time limited but unrestricted demo license.

  164. PRICE & LICENSE
  165. ===============
  166. This copy of JetPilot runs in a demo mode and can be
  167. licensed by ordering a key via e-mail or fax. Of course
  168. this product is distributed by all major NEXTSTEP
  169. resellers. The license is valid for all supported printers
  170. and one certain machine/print server.
