Salt Spring Technical has released version 3.2 of MindOverMail, an electronic address book with powerful envelope/label printing tools and contact management features. The new release includes the following features:
- Support for Intel, PA-RISC and Sparc architecture.
- Automatic phone dialing via modem.
- A mail merge utility that creates multiple copies of a form letter containing personalized data from records in a selected address book.
- A default field label management system.
- A Workspace Manager contents inspector.
Standard features from previous releases include:
- A 3/5 presort utility, which sorts large mail jobs according to the U.S. Postal Service's most recent standards, with full support for 5-, 9-, and 11-digit ZIP codes. MoM computes sacks, packages, weights, and rates in seconds. You can then browse the results of the sort and send selections to the label/envelope printing utility.
- Support for printing bar codes on both labels and envelopes in any of the USPS-approved locations.
- Complete compatibility with NeXT ".addresss" data, including support for the NeXT groups feature. You can open a NeXT address books with MoM, modify it, and write it back out to NeXT format. You can even designate MoM as the default tool for opening NeXT address books, using the Workspace Manager tools inspector.
- A direct interface to the NeXT Mail application through the click of a button in MoM's main window.
- A greatly enhanced search function. MoM's hot-key-walk feature finds matching entries as you type. Two interfaces allow you to choose (1) a quick-and-easy search without leaving the main window or (2) a full-featured logical search function through a find panel. Criteria for the logical search can include creation and modification times as well as field-specific data. Both interfaces allow nested searches.
- Support for graphic images in RTF format as well as in TIFF and EPS.
- Programmable import and export of foreign data formats in addition to the proprietary ASCII format supported by MoM 1.0.
- Redesigned Services, which now provide options for (1) fetching an address from MoM into another application or (2) using MoM to print an envelope using text highlighted in another application.
- Resizable address book windows with three useful pre-selected sizes.
- Additional new features and enhancements too numerous to mention here.
MoM 3.2 is available via anonymous FTP from the internet archives, or via e-mail directly from Salt Spring Technical. The application can be licensed over the phone for a single user, a single machine, or an entire network.
