  7. Welcome to DBInspectorDemo
  8. Enclosed is DBInspectorDemo, the demo version of DBInspector 2.0.  
  9. DBInspector is a fast and easy to use SQL query builder and gateway 
  10. that supports reading from and writing to a Sybase dataserver.  
  11.  
  12. DBInspector supports the following:
  13.     
  14.     o Open an unlimited number of browsers connected to different 
  15.     databases and dataservers using different Sybase logins.
  16.     o Build SQL queries automatically by clicking on the columns 
  17.     you want to see.
  18.     o Define your own field and record separators.
  19.     o Send query results to a formatted text window, 
  20.     database editor, or Improv.
  21.     o Modify data and write it back to Sybase.
  22.     o Inspect selected object attributes and contents.
  23.     
  24. Currently, DBInspector is the only Sybase front-end that includes both 
  25. English and Japanese interfaces and documentation.

  27. DBInspectorDemo quits after 25 database transactions.  To obtain a fully 
  28. functional version of DBInspector 2.0 with documentation, send a check

  40. Usage
  41.     o Select Info->Preferences and select a valid Sybase interfaces 
  42.     file and click Set.
  43.     o Enter a valid login and password in the DBBrowser panel.
  44.     o Select a dataserver in the first column of the DBBrowser 
  45.     panel.
  46.     o Select a database and table.
  47.     o Double-click on columns you want to query.  The DBQuery window 
  48.     will appear with a SQL query to extract data from the columns 
  49.     you selected.
  50.     o Click Commit in the DB Query window.  A DBText window will 
  51.     appear, containing the data frome the columns you selected.
  52.  
  53. Try selecting Improv or DBEdit in the DBBrowser window to change where 
  54. query results go.  You can also modify the characters DBInspector uses 
  55. to separate fields and records in the DBText window.
