  3. This will be of interest to you if your company owns an application which run on NeXTSTEP(TM) and you or someone else is marketing it or is planning to market it.

  5. VVdistributor is a network distribution program and service for licensing, protection, demonstration, distribution, and registration of commercial applications and data.
  6.  
  7. VVdistributor benefits developers by providing a unique and powerful marketing and distribution system.

  9. VVdistributor benefits end users by providing immediate access to top-notch, well supported applications.

  13. (1) Get the required files ...
  14.

  29. (2) Check it out ...

  31.       Double-click ~/Apps/VVdistributor.app from the Workspace Manager(TM). 
  32.       Look at VVdistributor's on-line help.

  34. (3) If you are interested in VVdistributor then demo it ...
  35.  
  36.       (3a) If you can ftp to gateway.vvi.com from your computer, you can 
  37.            network distribute to get the VVlicenseDemo:

  39.            Network distribute VVlicenseDemo.   
  40.  
  41.            NOTE: The files VVlicenseDemo.VVdistributor and 
  42.                  VVlicenseDemoResources.VVdistributor
  43.                  are unnecessary (they may be deleted).

  45. (3b) If you can not ftp to gateway.vvi.com:
  46.  
  47.            Double-click the VVlicenseDemo.VVdistributor icon from the 
  48.            Workspace Manager, then distribute.
  49.  
  50.            Quit the program.
  51.  
  52.            Double click the VVlicenseDemoResources.VVdistributor icon from the
  53.            Workspace Manager, then distribute.

  56. (4) When you have installed VVlicenseDemo.app ...
  57.  
  58.        Launch it!  By placing just a few lines of code in your programs, you 
  59.        will get all the added features of this program, which include:
  60.  
  61.        - An up-front modal panel which requires the acceptance of a private 
  62.          demonstration license.
  63.        - Registration panel and links to NeXTMAIL(TM), FAX, printer, etc. for 
  64.          automatic registration.
  65.        - Suggestion letter (See Info/Suggestion... in the main menu) with links 
  66.          to NeXTMAIL for automatic suggestions. You are welcome to send
  67.          suggestions regarding VVlicenseDemo, VVdistributor or any other 
  68.      product offered by VVI. The preformatted suggestion letter works best 
  69.          after you have entered the registration information.
  70.        - Disabled functions, (check out the commercial function menu item).
  71.        - Password protection.
  72.        - Time-out (which in this demo application is set to about 2 minutes).
  73.        - Many other features and services from VVI (read all about it in 
  74.          VVdistributor).

  87.      (1) Runs on NeXTSTEP 3.0 only.
  88.      (2) All distributions besides VVlicenseDemo, VVdistributor, and beta 
  89.          VVdrafter are temporarily suspended.
