  4. DFG_demo.app is a demo of the Digital Function Generator (DFG) -sound 
  5. synthesis software for NeXTSTEP - compatible computers. This version 
  6. should work on all Motorola and Intel - based NeXTSTEP computers with 
  7. NeXTSTEP versions 2.* => 3.* .

  20. The DFG / NeXT combination is a powerful tool for generating arbitrary
  21. sounds of arbitrary complexity and ultimate quality. Since DFG does
  22. not use DSP resources (Motorola 56001 chip) and since it uses only
  23. 2-3% of the CPU time, it can run simultaneously with such applications
  24. as  the Digital  Oscilloscope  and Spectrum  Analyzer (both
  25. applications come with NeXT). Therefore, the single DFG/NeXT
  26. combination can be used to perform sophisticated tests and
  27. experiments, since it can synthesize and analyze signals at the same
  28. time. The DFG is an ideal signal source for many applications in the
  29. field of acoustics, psychoacoustics, physics, architecture, audiology,
  30. electronics, electroacoustics, vibration measurements and transducer
  31. testing.
