  1. Welcome to NIST Synchronicity
  2.  
  3. Synchronicity is a Preferences module for synchronizing your
  4. computer's internal clock with the National Institute of Standards
  5. and Technology's (NIST) cesium clocks via a modem. The service is
  6. free, save the long distance charges you may incur during the call.
  7.  
  8. Synchronicity can be invoked thru the Preferences application, a
  9. cron script or the command line.

  11. Synchronicity Features Works with all Hayes compatible modems
  12.  
  13. Synchronization of the computer's clock can be immediate, or the
  14. clock can be slowly corrected without ever 'skipping' time. Time
  15. correction adjustment may be useful in cases where changing the
  16. computer's time may cause important automated tasks to be skipped.

  18. Synchronicity also provides a front-end to ntp.  Allowing you to
  19. synchronize your computers clock to a host running ntp time server.
