  5. I'm pleased to announce a publicly available update to Pastry, a
  6. shareware application that provides 3 basic features:
  7.  
  8.  
  9.     - it lets you put any number of items onto the pasteboard instead
  10.       of just one,
  11.  
  12.     - it lets you lock-in the items that you use frequently, such as
  13.       your favorite fonts or your email signature, so they are always
  14.       available for pasting into any application,
  15.  
  16.     - it lets you examine the contents of any item on the pasteboard
  17.       without leaving the application you are working in,
  18.  
  19.  
  20. plus many other features including drag-n-drop to and from the
  21. pasteboard, unlimited undo/redo, combination of separately-copied text
  22. items into a single item on the pasteboard, complete online help, and
  23. localization for English and French.

  26. But my description is feeble -- the best way to get the picture is to
  27. try the fully-functional demo available at the NeXTSTEP archive sites
  28. listed below.

  32. Some of the changes from Pastry 1.1 (July 1994) to 1.2 (September 1994):

  35. NEW FEATURES
  36.  
  37.   "Refuse to Hide" preference.  Causes Pastry not to hide when an
  38.   application's icon is command-double-clicked.
  39.  
  40.   "Font Size" preference.  You can set the size of the text on the
  41.   buttons, and Pastry uses the Application font set in Preferences.app.
  42.  
  43.   New descriptive text on font items.  Instead of "Font" it shows the
  44.   font name and point size.
  45.  
  46.   Object Link support improved -- click on the "link icon" in the
  47.   Inspector Panel to open the source document.
  48.  
  49.   Services support improved -- Pastry can accept data returned by
  50.   other apps through services.
  51.  
  52.   Image inspector allows selection of a piece of the image by dragging
  53.   out a rubber band.
  54.  
  55.   File inspector allows double-clicking a filename to open a file in
  56.   the Workspace.
  57.  
  58.   InspectorPanel allows selection of a specific type to inspect by
  59.   clicking in the "Types List Inspector."

  64. BUG FIXES (several -- these are the most important)

  66.   Problems working with Data Links and /usr/bin/copy corrected.

  68.   Two fatal bugs were squashed.

  87. IMPORTANT:  Because Pastry is a Multi-Architecture Binary (Motorola
  88. and Intel) and uses MAB bundles, it requires NeXTSTEP 3.1 or newer.
  89. (It will work with 3.0 only if you thin the fat bundles).  Send me
  90. mail if you need a copy that is pre-thinned for 3.0.

  92. Pastry is shareware.  A single license is $25 -- see the online help
  93. for registration details.  Registered users of previous versions of
  94. Pastry do not need to re-register to use 1.2.  Just grab it from one
  95. of the sites -- or send me mail if you don't have access to ftp.

  97. Pastry uses a few classes from the MiscKit, the Objective-C kit
  98. developed by the NeXTSTEP community under the direction of Don
  99. Yacktman.
