  9. This is just a maintenance release to fix a couple of sloppy bugs
  10. in v1.4:
  11.  
  12.   * Fiend refuses to launch apps from the Fiend Shelf.
  13.   * Fiend gets confused when you launch apps from paths with spaces in them
  14.   * Fiend gets confused when replacing more than one row's worth of app icons
  15.   * Fiend no longer tracks some apps with extra-long file names
  16.  
  17. Fiend is shareware, and if you use it regularly, I request that you
  18. send me $10 as a token of your satisfaction with my efforts (my address
  19. is in the README).

  29. What does it do?  Well, Fiend is a dock extender, first
  30. and foremost.  It is the *only* quad-fat dock extender capable
  31. of animating *all* of your animated icons, as well as:
  32.     * supporting multiple, named dock levels;
  33.     * handling command-dragging and command-double-clicking
  34.     * arbitrary configuration and placement of your dock(s) and
  35.       the docked icons in an integrated and seamless fashion.
  36.     
  37. Fiend is also a shelf extender that turns your entire desktop into
  38. a shelf that can display an image of your choice.
  39.     
  40. Finally, Fiend is capable of loading your BackSpace modules, so it
  41. can function as a screen saver as well.

  47. * Dock levels are now loaded when needed, rather than
  48.      all at once during initialization
  49. * New Preferences panel - gets rid of most of the dwrites

  52. * Fiend Dock now remembers its position differently under 
  53.      different window resolutions
  54. * Fiend icons are now updated automatically when they are
  55.      selected in the Workspace, or manually in response to an

  58.    contributed to the following features:
  59.      - multi-threaded app launches
  60.      - an "Info->Show Menus" menu item

  65. * Fiend crashes when an app that was launched from the 
  66.       command line (using a command without a forward slash)

  68. * Fiend doesn't remember the locations of persistent icons that

  75. * All modal panels now have "Cancel" and "Ok" buttons
  76. * Selection of docked or shelved files in the Workspace is now

  78. * When you click an icon to select it in the Workspace, the 
  79.       Workspace now becomes the active app
  80. * Fixed some library loading options that prevented some 
  81.       BackSpace modules from being loaded properly
  82. * The Fiend Dock "Close Post Launch" command has been
  83.       rationalized slightly, so that the Dock will close after both
  84.       launch and reactivation, rather than just launch
  85.  
  86. Incompatibilities:
  87.  
  88. * Toggling a docked icon from persistent to non-persistent no
  89.       longer reassociates that icon with the level to which it
  90.       was originally attached.  If you turn off persistence for a
  91.       docked icon, it becomes attached to whichever dock level
  92.       is visible at the moment.
  93. * Fiend v1.4.1 no longer accepts the plain ascii pasteboard type
  94.       for paste operations, although it still generates that type
  95.       when cutting/copying
