- Hi Gang!
-
- Introduction
- Well, while I'm on my way to learning C, I've been playing with Icon a bit.
- The results, while not earth shattering, are maybe usefull to some other
- poor souls who don't have the time or skills (not much skill is needed ;-)
- but would like icons for different directories (oops - I meant of course
- Folders) or documents/Apps, etc.
-
- I use these tiffs as folder icons, most are self explanitory. Not all are quite
- as creative as they should be (the improv.tiff comes to mind), and some
- might even be construed as stepping on corporate toes (again, improv.tiff).
- Let it be clear that all logos, icons, and tiff files in this tar file are probably
- trademarks of their respective companies, and not original work. On the other
- hand, some are clearly original work, and as such are free. Please feel
- free to modify them to your hearts desire (although after crashing Icon so
- many times I'm inclined to leave them as they are :-)
-
- Instructions for installation
- I'd reccommend you first uncompress/untar and look at the different tiffs with
- the Inspector panel (use contents view) or Icon.app. If you don't know how to
- uncompress and un-tar you wouldn't be reading this file so I'll assume you can.
- If you want to use cassette3.tiff as a folder icon for /LocalLibrary/Sounds, for
- example, do the following:
-
- sushi% su
- Password: <give the root password here>
- sushi# cp cassette3.tiff /LocalLibrary/Sounds/.dir.tiff
- sushi# chmod 644 /LocalLibrary/Sounds/.dir.tiff
- sushi# exit <or use CTRL+d>
- sushi%
-
- Then click on the LocalLibrary/Sounds folder in the browser - you should have
- a cassette instead of a forlder icon there. If not, one of us screwed up. If
- you know more about Unix than I (quite possible), check the permissions, etc
- and do let me know if there's any problem. If you don't, try the above first on
- a local folder (i.e., under your home directory) to see if it works. NB! you do
- not need to su root (nor should you) while working in your home directory.
-
- I hope someone can use these, if anyone would like more let me know and I'll
- see what I can come up with - it may be a while before I know enough C to
- develop a worthy App...
-
- Enjoy!
