  12. OCSoftware just released the NEXTSTEP version of Belegost. The game
  13. of Belegost is cool text adventure originally written years ago by
  14. CYBEXLAB for ATARI ST. I've already ported this game for PSION
  15. Series 3/3a; now I've finished the NEXTSTEP port. The application
  16. is fairly big, as it contains a few nice truecolor scanned pictures
  17. (by John Howe and Ted Nasmith).

  19. * FROM THE STORY *
  20.  
  21. >>The underground town of Belegost was built in the foot-hills of
  22. Ered Luin by the Naugrim folk (among people known as Dwarves) during
  23. the First Age.

  25. When the Dwarves were tunneling the domes and corridors of the new
  26. city, they discovered Alqualamir, one of the most precious gems of
  27. Middle Earth. The stone was not valued for its beauty as much as
  28. for its power to heal injuries inflicted by the forces of Darkness.

  30. The Dwarves lived in Belegost accumulating their wealth and adorning
  31. their city for centuries until the dawn of the Second Age brought
  32. Darkness as Sauron became the Lord of the Rings. One day, an awesome
  33. troop of Orcs stood at the gates of Belegost. The Dwarves bravely
  34. defended their city, but finally the tremendous enemy force
  35. prevailed...<<

  51.     NEXTSTEP 3.2 or higher (might work on older, untested)

  53. The application was tested on white hardware with 8-bit color. It
  54. is written with special care to be really portable, but you know
  55. - any code contain some bugs. I am particularly afraid there might
  56. be problems with readability of grayscale representations of the
  57. pictures. Anyway, let me please know how (or at least if) it works
  58. on your configuration.
