  1. Remotes Release 3.0

  4. Remotes is a companion package to Stuart and Terminal.  It simplifies
  5. the management of Stuart and Terminal sessions.   Remotes can launch
  6. local Stuart and Terminal sessions.  However, its primary use is to
  7. establish sessions with remote hosts using the rlogin, telnet, and
  8. tn3270 protocols.

  10. The first production release of Remotes was in April, 1990, under NeXT
  11. System Release 1.0a.  It has since been modified to run under NeXT
  12. System Releases 2.x and 3.0.

  16. The primary window is so tiny that you can hide it behind the dock.
  17. It consists of a single button that displays a pop-up list of your
  18. local and remote hosts.  To launch a new Terminal or Stuart session,
  19. choose the desired item in the pop-up list.

  21. Each host configuration (e.g., auto-launch, window location, lines,
  22. columns, font, font size, protocol, login ID, etc) can be tailored
  23. individually.

  25. Just as you can auto-launch applications, Remotes can be configured to
  26. auto-launch Terminal and Stuart sessions.  When you launch Remotes, it
  27. can automatically establish sessions with remote hosts.  This is
  28. useful if you auto-launch Remotes from your dock.  Simply logging in
  29. to your NeXT can establish sessions with remote hosts.
