  4. ASCII_Filter.app is a demo of the ASCII File Filter - ASCII and binary
  5. file filtering software for NeXTSTEP - compatible computers.This version 
  6. should work on all Motorola and Intel - based NeXTSTEP computers with 
  7. NeXTSTEP versions 2.* => 3.* .

  9. Please feel free to use and to distribute ASCII_Filter.app software 
  10. to other NeXTSTEP users. Please let us know if you have any additional

  20. ASCII_Filter  is a demo version of a commercial software.  The
  21. commercial software is available from us for $40 US.
  22.  
  23. Demo has the same functionality as the commercial software except it
  24. does not display the number of input characters in the "Filter
  25. Parameters" section of the window.

  27. The ASCII_Filter software has been developed under NeXTSTEP Release
  28. 3.2 by DIGITAL  RECORDINGS - Advanced R & D, Halifax, Nova Scotia,
  29. Canada. It works on Motorola and Intel - based NeXTSTEP computers.
  30. Soon it will also be available for Sun and HP computers running
  31. NeXTSTEP.

  33. The ASCII_Filter program was written for filtering out of the
  34. non-ASCII characters from ASCII files.  
  35.  
  36. Transmission  errors, wrongly entered characters, etc. , are only few
  37. reasons for non-ASCII characters making their ways into ASCII files.
  38. Tasks such as Kermit file transfer, transfer of files from one
  39. application to another, compiling corrupted source code often result
  40. in errors when such corrupted files are involved. Since standard
  41. editors will not display some of these characters, detecting them
  42. becomes not an easy task.
