  4. Virtual is a virtual screen management package composed of VirtScreen, an
  5. extremly powerful virtual screen manager, and VirtStart, a utility to be used
  6. with VirtScreen.

  8. A companion package is VirtualIntro, containing english and french introduction
  9. files to the Virtual package.

  14. This package contains introduction files about the Virtual virtual screen
  15. management package. The files are available in english and in french.

  20. VirtScreen is an extremely powerful virtual screen manager, with a lot of
  21. interesting unique features. Some features are:

  23.   - User control of the size and scale of the virtual screen.
  24.   - Applications names in the windows, with user-settable font.
  25.   - Different defaults colors for different windows kinds.
  26.   + Custom colors for the windows (with transparency enabled).
  27.   - Sticky windows.
  28.   + Protected windows.
  29.   - True view of the windows.
  30.   + Automatic scrolling of the virtual screen in eight directions.
  31.   + User-settable grid, letting the user move on grid boundaries.
  32.   + Panner letting the user move in various ways.
  33.   + Easily movable virtual screen.
  34.   - Real-time moves.
  35.   + Automatic screen-switching when double-clicking an application tile.
  36.   + Resources letting you specify where an application should be launched, if
  37.     its windows must be stuck, what the windows color will be, and more; these
  38.     resources are maintained at the VirtScreen level, the host level and the
  39.     user level for ease of sharing.
  40.   + Inheritance of windows properties (defaults, then per-application,
  41.     per-context and per-window).
  42.   + Touched windows that do not inherit anymore.
  43.   + Fine control over what is displayed in the VirtScreen window.
  44.   + Comprehensive set of preferences for the expert user, defaulting to
  45.     intuitive values for the novice user.

  49. The demonstration version is a full-featured version of VirtScreen; however, it
  50. is running only for a limited time and it does not read nor save resources or
  51. user preferences.
  52.   The author releases only this demonstration version because he is looking for
  53. a firm that will be interested in a commercial distribution of the application. Please contact him if you are interested.

  55. The demonstration version is running on both Motorola and Intel processors, and
  56. has a comprehensive english on-line hypertext help.

  59. companion utility for VirtScreen, too.

  64. VirtStart is a utility intended to be used with VirtScreen. It can be run as a
  65. login hook in order to help VirtScreen know all applications names when it is
  66. run, and not only after it has been started.
