  28. *    Netsurfer now provides NEXTIMETM video playback  
  29. capabilities including support for the new experimental <VIDEO> HTML  
  30. element for support of inline videos. An example of this feature  
  31. can be found in the demo document:

  72. consistency, in addition to Cmd-double clicking on the URL icon in  
  73. the Browser Window, you can also now Ctrl-double click to view the  
  74. current page's URL in the Open Panel.
  75. *    You can now set the color of "visited" links in the Browser  
  76. Window.  See Preferences->Text Styles.
  77. *    You can now configure a list of servers that will not use  
  78. configured proxies.  See Preferences->Communications.
  79. *    Large HTML form elements now size proportional to the  
  80. browser window size.
  81. *    You can now set the behavior of the Resource Index when  
  82. opening items.  By default, Netsurfer will open a new Browser Window  
  83. for every item opened.  This behavior can now be changed to force  
  84. Netsurfer to use an existing open Browser Window to display the  
  85. selected resource.  See Preferences->General, "Open New Browsers".    
  86. When configured to open new resources using existing Browser  
  87. Windows, you can still force a new Window to be opened by holding  
  88. down the Command key when opening the item in the Resource Index.
  89. *    For HTML pages, when attempting to open a page that is  
  90. already being displayed, Netsurfer no longer opens a second Browser  
  91. Window for the page.   The existing Browser Window is brought to the  
  92. front instead.

  94. Bug Fixes

  96. *    When clicking to the left (outside) of a centered image  
  97. that contained a link anchor, Netsurfer would erroneously activate  
  98. the link.
  99. *    HTML special entity characters and ISO-8859/1 (Latin 1)  
  100. characters are now handled correctly within FORM elements.
  101. *    The html <BASE> tag is now correctly supported.
  102. *    File permission problems on certain files in the  
  103. English.lproj folder of Netsurfer.app have been fixed.
  104. *    HTML paragraph breaks <P> and horizontal rules <HR> would  
  105. break preformatted (<PRE>) text.
  106. *    When returning to a pervious page that contained a form,  
  107. the "Reset" or "Revert" button did not function correctly.
  108. *    When entering a password in the HTTP Authentication panel  
  109. without pressing Enter, the password was not used correctly.
  110. *    HTTP redirection did not function properly when the  
  111. redirection from the sever was specified relative to the same host  
  112. as the original request.
  113. *    HTTP proxy authentication now functions correctly.
  114. *    When returning to a cached page containing forms, sometimes  
  115. part of the form data would be incorrect when the form was  
  116. submitted  a second time.  Also, clearing of the re-visited form did  
  117. not function correctly.
  118. *    Netsurfer would not open local HTML files with a .HTM[L]  
  119. (uppercase) extension properly.
  120. *    Netsurfer would sometimes crash when changing the HTML Text  
  121. bullet preference.
  122. *    When re-submitting forms containing <TEXTAREA> fields,  
  123. sometimes, spurious information would be included in the field upon  
  124. form submission.
  125. *    The width of pages is now made to always match the width of  
  126. the window.  This problem would cause centered elements to not  
  127. appear correctly on pages that were narrower than the visible area  
  128. of the Document Window.
  129. *    HTML paragraph breaks <P> and horizontal rules <HR> would  
  130. break centered (<CENTER>) text.

  132. Notes
  133. *    Netsurfer will not try to render HTML with background  
  134. images and colors on systems with 2-bit grayscale video.
  135. *    Carriage Return (Ctrl-M) characters in HTML documents were  
  136. ignored.  Apparently, current practice (Netscape as opposed to the  
  137. HTML specification) translates these into spaces, Netsurfer now does  
  138. this as well.  This problem (assumption) affected some HTML  
  139. documents created on Macintosh systems.
  140. *    Netsurfer now places temporary files in  
  141. /tmp/Netsurfer/<username>.
  142. *    The HTML <H1> heading style is now rendered centered on the  
  143. page.
