Welcome to the demonstration version of Connect It! for NEXTSTEP computers.  This demo is intended to give you a feel for how Connect It! makes it easy to get your computer connected to UNIX e-mail servers.  If you like what you see, contact your favorite NEXTSTEP reseller or call us to order a fully functional package.

  14. Description
  15. Connect It! helps administer UUCP, modems, and sendmail so that you may exchange e-mail with other systems.  Configure your NEXTSTEP computer with Connect It! to do the following:

  17. •    Automatically call other computers to exchange e-mail.
  18. •    Accept incoming calls from remote computers and users.
  19. •    Correctly route Internet e-mail to an Internet e-mail server.
  20. •    Send e-mail to remote computers when long distance rates are less expensive.
  21. •    Schedule calls to check for e-mail from other systems.

  23.     You do not need technical abilities to configure most systems with Connect It!

  25. Exchange e-mail with almost any type of remote UNIXí computer, including:
  26. •    Corporate, campus, and user group  e-mail servers.
  27. •    Most commercial e-mail providers, including:
  28.         PSI/Net
  29.         Netcom
  30.         Panix
  31.         UUNET

  33.     You may also use Connect It!'s connection editor if a remote computer has non-standard dial-in requirements.

  46. Installation
  47. The demo version of Connect It! does not require special installation to run.  You may run the application directly off a CD-ROM, or copy it to your Apps directory and run it from there.

  57. Using the Demo
  58. The following describes a quick setup session with Connect It!  Note that this is a special demonstration version of Connect It! that will not actually perform any setup or administrative functions.  Contact your favorite reseller or Black Market Technologies to purchase a fully functional copy.

  60. •    Launch Connect It!
  61. •    When the license panel comes up, click the Demo button to run Connect It! in demo mode.
  62. •    Select the Info command from the Info submenu and read the demo license. 
  63. •    Click the Local Computer command from the main menu and follow the steps in the red boxes to configure your local computer.

  66. •    Click the Remote Computer command from the main menu.

  69. •    That's all it takes to get most systems up and running.  In the rare case that you run into a connectivity problem, you can specialize the connection yourself using Connect It!'s Custom E-mail Service editor.
