  1. Program: Audio-CD-Player for an Apple CD-150, Version 0.1
  2. Platform: NEXTSTEP 3.x, black hardware only

  5. This is a very basic prerelease of my Audio-CD-Player for the Apple
  6. CD-150. It allows start and stop playing and skipping a track. A
  7. display shows actual track, index and playing time. To use it, you
  8. must run it as root or set the SETUID-Bit. To do that, you have to
  9. login as root and to enter: chown root CD150-Player.app/CD150-Player
  10. chmod 4755 CD150-Player.app/CD150-Player
  11.  
  12. This program does very few error checking. So you should use it only
  13. as described:

  15. - start the application
  16. - insert CD when the panel appears
  17. - to change a CD, quit the application and restart!

  19. I wouldn't have released this program in this condition. But many
  20. people urged me to do so, because they would like to listen to CDs
  21. with their Apple CD-150. I don't want to hear any complaints about
  22. this ugly little program. However, any suggestions and bug reports are

  26. For now this program is only available for black hardware. For Intel
  27. hardware I would have to do some changes. Is there any need for an
  28. Intel version?

  30. I plan to make a real CD-player out of it. But this won't happen
  31. before february 94. The source is not available, sorry (at least not
  32. for now)!  I would like to thank Franz-Josef Reichert
  33. (fjrei@kbsaar.saar.de), who hacked the SCSI commands for CD-150 audio
  34. mode.

  37. this program IS buggy! THIS PROGRAM HAS ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. So
  38. don't held me responsible for any damage that is caused by this
  39. program.
