  1. CHRISTMAS TEASER

  3. Trillium Sound Research Inc. is proud to present some preliminary
  4. results of our ongoing research in speech synthesis.  In the spirit
  5. of Christmas, we have synthesized a chorus singing one verse of the
  6. Burgundian carol "Pat-a-pan".  This sound file can be played on any
  7. NeXT computer, or on any computer running NEXTSTEP with an
  8. appropriate sound card and driver.
  9.  
  10. The music was synthesized entirely from scratch using software
  11. tools; no recordings whatever were used.  Although these tools were
  12. designed to create natural-sounding synthetic speech, they are
  13. flexible enough to create synthetic song.

  18. ChristmasTeaser.tar (4.2 MB) untars to a directory containing:

  20. 1) Pat-a-pan.snd:  A synthetic chorus of the old French
  21.    carol "Pat-a-pan". (4 MB)
  22. 2) helloMale.snd:  synthetic "hello" spoken by a large
  23.    male. (30 KB)
  24. 3) helloFemale.snd:  "hello" spoken with a synthesized
  25.    women's voice. (66 KB)
  26. 4) helloChild.snd:  synthetic "hello" spoken by a large
  27.    child. (54 KB)
