  4. This archive (lynx-2.6.NIHS.tar.gz) contains an Installer.app package for
  5. lynx-2.6.  This software is location dependant, so it insists on installing
  6. to /usr/local (if you need it somewhere else, you'll need to recompile).

  10. WHAT IS LYNX?
  11.  
  12.    Lynx is a fully-featured World Wide Web (WWW) client for users running
  13.    cursor-addressable, character-cell display devices (e.g., vt100
  14.    terminals, vt100 emulators running on PCs or Macs, or any other
  15.    "curses-oriented" display). It will display hypertext markup language
  16.    (HTML) documents containing links to files residing on the local
  17.    system, as well as files residing on remote systems running Gopher,
  18.    HTTP, FTP, WAIS, and NNTP servers. Current versions of Lynx run on
  19.    Un*x and VMS.
  20.    
  21.    Lynx can be used to access information on the World Wide Web, or to
  22.    build information systems intended primarily for local access. For
  23.    example, Lynx has been used to build several Campus Wide Information
  24.    Systems (CWIS). In addition, Lynx can be used as a shell interface for
  25.    beginning users.
