  5. coding of prediction residuals.  The amount of compression
  6. obtained depends on the nature of the waveform.  Those com-
  7. posing of low frequencies and low amplitudes give the best
  8. compression.  Compression is generally better than that
  9. obtained by general purpose compression utilities applied to
  10. waveform files.
