- Rosetta 2.1
-
- Welcome to Rosetta. Rosetta is a tool to help you handling the different
- character sets of common computer systems. These character sets are equal
- within the 7 bit range (0 to 127, called ASCII) and differ in the upper half
- (128 to 255), where a lot of special characters (e. g. German umlauts) are
- located.
-
- Rosetta offers the ability to convert one or more text files from one to
- another character set. The conversion always uses ISO 8859-1 as basic
- character set. When converting a text file from NeXTstep to Apple Macintosh,
- Rosetta first translates the letters to ISO 8859-1 and then from ISO 8859-1 to
- Macintosh format. Due to this procedure, a few characters that are not within
- the ISO 8859-1 set will be lost.
-
- Version 2.1 implements the NeXTstep release 3 dragging mechanism. Furthermore
- this version of Rosetta offers conversion by the Services menu. More new
- features: conversion into TeX style, new design and an inclusion of a MAB for
- Motorola, Intel and HP-PA processors.
