- There are a large number of fonts available at ftp sites, but they rarely
- have been set up properly for NeXT machines nor are they often fully
- PostScript type 1 compatible. The usual situation is a bunch of randomly
- named files with incorrect font names in the afm file and only partially
- or erroneously encoded character sets. I don't like this. So I downloaded
- a huge pile of fonts and sifted thru them searching for correct fonts.
- Unfortunately, not many freely available fonts are "perfect", but here is
- a reasonably large collection of them (about 1M compressed, 1.8M opened).
-
- To use one font under NeXTstep 2.2, chdir to ~/Library/Fonts (make it if you
- don't yet have it) and do the command:
- zcat Font-whatever.tar.Z | tar xf -
- for each font you wish to install, then execute the commands:
- buildafmdir
- cacheAFMData .
- If you have root access on your machine, you can install these fonts to
- the /LocalLibrary/Fonts in a similar way to give access to all your users.
-
- The fonts included in these packages are:
- ArnoldBoecklin-ExtraBold
- Baskerville-Normal
- Baskerville-Bold
- Baskerville-Italic
- Blippo-Heavy
- Bodoni-Normal
- Bodoni-Bold
