  1. This package allows you to use the 500 high quality postscript fonts 
  2. from the Bitstream 500 Font CD for Windows with TeX and dvips. 
  3. After installing the package, copy the file btfonts.map to /usr/lib/tex/ps/
  4. and add a line to your config.ps file in that directory consisting of the
  5. following:

  7. p+ btfonts.map
  8.  
  9. somewhere near the beginning of the file.  Make sure to create
  10. a backup copy of config.ps first!  You must add the directories
  11. where you put the tfm files to your TEXFONTS environment
  12. variable and the directories where you put the vf files to your
  13. VFFONTS environment variable in your .cshrc file (as well 
  14. as to the rc file for your shell if you use a shell other than
  15. csh.)

  17. If you only want to use these fonts for yourself without installing
  18. them for systemwide use, create a file  in your
  19. home directory called .dvipsrc which consists of the
  20. line you would have added to /usr/lib/tex/ps/config.ps.

  22. manual for more information on how to do this.

  24. I have included samples for the .cshrc and .dvipsrc 
  25. files.

  27. The most difficult step is to convert the fonts from the Windows form
  28. on the CD to NEXTSTEP form.  A wonderful script has already been
  29. made to accomplish just this.  This  script, Installfonts, written
  30. by Otto J. Makela, is included.
