  6. 1. General
  7. AfmMaker is a utility program which generates a bare bone AFM file
  8. for a postscript outline font. To install a postscript font, its AFM
  9. file is necessary.  However, some outline fonts do not come with
  10. AFM files.  If those fonts are Adobe Type I fonts, you can get
  11. their AFM files from Adobe's mail file server.  Otherwise, you have
  12. to create them by hands.  AfmMaker helps you doing that.  It generates
  13. AFM files which will make the font usable in the NeXT computers.
  14. If you want to add more information such as kerning, you can edit
  15. the generated AFM files by hands.

  17. We have used this utility to create AFM files for third party Type 3
  18. postscript fonts.

  23. AfmMaker was developed and tested under NeXT 2.1.
  24. Just move the executable to either ~/Apps or /LocalApps.
