  21. Looking Glass Design, Inc. Announces Serial Port
  22. Communication Objects for NEXTSTEP
  23.  
  24. VANCOUVER, BC -  Looking Glass Design, Inc. (LGD) today
  25. announced the pre-release of the LGDCommunicationKit, a
  26. serial communications library for NEXTSTEP.
  27.  
  28. LGDSerialPort is an appkit-independant object used to
  29. connect to serial devices, suitable for use in command-line
  30. executables and daemons.  The class supports full uucp-style
  31. device locking, as well as a wide range of port
  32. configuration options.
  33.  
  34. LGDAppSerialPort extends the functionality of the basic
  35. serial device for use in NEXTSTEP GUI applications.  The
  36. kit includes a palette, allowing the programmer to specify
  37. target and action from within Interface Builder.  The
  38. specified message will be sent whenever data becomes
  39. available at the device, allowing applications to deal with
  40. serial port input in an event-driven manner just as they do
  41. the keyboard and mouse input.
