  4. MetroTools is a commercial set of six software tools that use one User Interface shell. The bundled tools include:

  6. Font Installer -  installs Macintosh as well as NeXT fonts
  7. NiteLite - full-featured screen saver (also supports BackSpace modules)
  8. Application Launcher - a dock extender 
  9. Archiver - one-step creation and expansion of .tar and .Z files
  10. Sound Importer - converts and installs Mac sound files
  11. File Locator - a file search utility that actually works

  13. The MetroTools shell is extendable so that you can create your own tools and add them to the MetroTools panel. MetroTools provides a set of support methods to make creating tools a snap.

The file MetroToolsAPI.tar.Z is available on the popular FTP archives and in the Compuserve NeXT Forum libraries, It contains documentation of the API in WriteNow format, header files, and source code for a sample MetroTools tool (a drag-and-drop hex file viewer) and an additional NiteLite (MetroTool's bundled screen saver) module called "Blob".

  17. A demo version of MetroTools 1.1 will be available shortly on the FTP archives and will be distributed on the upcoming NeXT Third Party CD-ROM. Version 1.1 includes a radically enhanced Application Launcher which we believe is the most configurable and powerful dock extender on the market.
