  3. Recipes.tar.Z contains a Digital Librarianized version of the
  4. massive collection of recipes that can be found on many archives,
  5. including gatekeeper.dec.com.  The semi-mystical recipe
  6. formatter (found in Recipes/.index/rcshow) is entirely the work of
  7. Brian Reid. If you want these recipes to display metric measurements
  8. instead, you can edit the rcshow script.  The curious may also want to
  9. peek inside the .index directory; Digital Librarian is a cool thing,
  10. but it would be much cooler if the documented some of its features.

  12. These recipes come from a newsgroup called alt.gourmand, in which a
  13. moderator apparently translated recipes into the troff-ish format
  14. that you see in this archive. The moderator of rec.food.recipes,
  15. Andrew Mossberg (aem@mthvax.cs.miami.edu) has no idea where the
  16. group went, and neither do I.  As far as I can tell, though, this clever
  17. style of formatting recipes is no longer used; if you know the story
  18. behind it, I'd appreciate it if you'd drop me (and Andrew) a line.

  20. Anyhow, I did all this mainly so I could find a particular chocolate-
  21. chip cookie recipe; now that I have, I'm gonna start baking.  If you
