“Spiral Notebook” Interface
A visually rich and intuitive graphical user interface gives NoteBook its elegance and ease of use. NoteBook documents look and behave just like a real paper notebook, and can contain as much information as you like.
Outline Processor
There's no better way to organize information and ideas than with an outline. NoteBook contains a powerful, full-featured outline processor for creating and managing hierarchies of information.
“Cell with Attributes” Architecture
NoteBook stores information in “Cells,” containers for multi-font text, images and files. Cells also maintain a set of attributes such as a priority, date and “Label” that make information categorization and retrieval easy.
Dynamic “Clipping” Services
NoteBook Clip Services let you quickly store information in a Notebook while working within another NeXTSTEP application. Create clipping notebooks to hold electronic mail messages, news articles and other important information.
Active Indexing System
Each Notebook maintains an index of its contents that's automatically updated whenever a change occurs. The index speeds retrieval and always remains current.
Dynamic Index Views
Dynamic Index View Pages display “cross-sections” of a Notebook's contents, mirroring your associative memory processes to help you retrieve information. You can quickly navigate to the information with just a click of the mouse.

Mark and Gather
NoteBook's electronic “yellow highlighter” lets you “mark” Cells with specific text or attribute values. NoteBook can also “gather” marked Cells together for quick inspection or report generation.
Bookmarks
Bookmarks let you turn to a specific Notebook Page or Section just by clicking. Place Bookmarks on the desktop or your dock using Engage! Desktop(tm).
Page Bundles
Page Bundles make it easy to share a Notebook's Pages with other NoteBook users. Just click and drag a Page into an email message or a Workspace Manager File Viewer for storage in the file system.
“To Do” Section
NoteBook's outline processor and Cell attributes make organizing daily action items and other to-do lists natural and easy. NoteBook's special To Do Section automatically creates a Page for each new day and “rolls-over” undone items from the previous day to help remind you of any open tasks.
Cell Numbering Styles

Page Styles

System Requirements
Requires NEXTSTEP Release 3.1, or higher. The NoteBook application and associated files ship on two 1.44MB diskettes.
Running the NoteBook Demo Application
The NoteBook demo application provides an overview of NoteBook's capabilities and features. The demo will not save or print, and will quit after one hour. Running the demo requires no special installation — just double-click the application icon from the CD-ROM.
