  42. Technical Note about Microsoft's DirectDraw(tm)
  43.  
  44. This demo version of Tracer takes advantage of some of the DirectDraw(tm) 
  45. features but not its "Video Page Flipping" feature because some 
  46. hardware/driver related problems have been found on many systems.
  47.  
  48. If you know that your system supports DirectDraw(tm) page flipping properly, 
  49. or if you want to test it with Tracer, you can force Tracer to use page 
  50. flipping by directly editing the TRACER.INI file located in the Windows 
  51. directory (usually: C:\WINDOWS\TRACER.INI).
  52.  
  53. In TRACER.INI, locate and change the following statement in the [Preferences]
  54. section:
  55.    
  56.    Change this line:
  57.  
  58.       DirectDrawLevel=1
  59.  
  60.    Into this line:
  61.  
  62.       DirectDrawLevel=2
  63.  
  64. If Page flipping is enabled, Tracer will probably run slightly faster.
  65. However, on some systems using a DirectDraw(tm) emulation driver, you may experience 
  66. a performance degradation.  In such case, reset the DirectDrawLevel value to 1 
  67. in TRACER.INI.
