- For Demo Downloaders:
- ---------------------
-
- Once you've unzipped to the directory of your choice,
- run SETSOUND to configure your sound setup, and then run
- ASCEND to run Ascendancy. If Ascendancy tells you it can't find a
- VESA driver, type "uvconfig -gen" to configure the UNIVBE driver.
- That's all!

- 4. Machine Requirements & Tips
- ------------------------------
-
- Ascendancy requires a 486-33 or better CPU with at least 8 megabytes of
- RAM. Approximately 12 megabytes of harddrive space are required for the
- demonstration version (about 15 for the full game). Your video card must
- support SVGA 640x480 with 256 colors, and must be VESA compatible. Your
- CDROM drive should be at least double-speed.
-
- *Note: Ascendancy has been successfully tested on slower systems, including
- slower 386 systems, but users may experience problems with digital music
- and graphics speed on these slower machines..
-
- If you need to free more memory to run Ascendancy, ensure that SMARTDRV.EXE
- is not using more than 2 megs of memory, or disable it entirely (at your
- discretion).
