  4.   Hello and welcome to the Jixxa software package  from  Rhode  Island  Soft
  5.   Systems, Inc.!
  6.    
  7.   This  package  contains  Jixxa, the premier Jigsaw Puzzle game for Windows
  8.   3.1, plus 2 fun jigsaw puzzles to get you going.  This package contains an
  9.   automated installation utility, and  interactive  on-line help.  It should
  10.   be noted that registered users of Jixxa receive the full retail version of
  11.   Jixxa which contains everything in this shareware version PLUS several new
  12.   game features, and a dozen more jigsaw puzzles!

  14.   The Jixxa puzzles in this package are intended for 256 color  displays, so
  15.   if you only have a 16 color display, you will not see the  full  beauty of
  16.   the images.  Of course, the game will still work, but not in the  intended
  17.   manner.  You can verify your color setting in the "Help... About..."  box.

  19.   The 2 puzzles in this package are made with "Large" and "Small" pieces. 
  20.   The registered version ships with additional, different piece sizes as 
  21.   well ("Medium" and "Tiny"), for more variety.

  23.   The following information will guide  you  through  installing  the  Jixxa
  24.   files.   Once installed, the SETUP program will create a program group and
  25.   install icons for the documentation files,  which you can read by clicking
  26.   on the document's icon.

  29.                            VERIFICATION OF FILES
  30.                            ---------------------

  32.   At this point, please look for all of the files that belong to  the  Jixxa
  33.   package.  All  of the  files  are  listed in the file VENDINFO.DIZ. If the
  34.   VENDINFO.DIZ file or any of the  files  listed in VENDINFO.DIZ are missing,
  35.   please contact us for an official copy of Jixxa -- it would not be fair to
  36.   either the user or Rhode  Island  Soft  Systems,  Inc.   to  have  a  user
  37.   evaluate an incomplete package.

  40.                               INSTALLING JIXXA
  41.                               ----------------

  43.   From Program Manager's main window, select "File".  This will cause a menu
  44.   to drop down.  Next, select "Run...".  A dialog box will pop up requesting
  45.   a "Command Line".
  46.   
  47.   If  the  Jixxa files are on a floppy disk, insert the diskette into the A:
  48.   or B: drive,  as  appropriate  and  type  either "A:\SETUP" or "B:\SETUP",
  49.   respectively.  We must execute the "SETUP" program located on  the disk.

  51.   If  the  Jixxa  files  are  in a directory on a hard drive, enter the full
  52.   drive and directory path to  where  the  Jixxa files are located, such as:
  53.   "C:\DOWNLOAD\TEMP\SETUP".  Please note  that  these  are  just  samples -- 
  54.   subsititue the proper drive and directory, as appropriate.

  56.   After entering the command to execute SETUP, press the ENTER key or  click
  57.   on the "OK" button.  At this point SETUP will handle the entire process of
  58.   installing the Jixxa files.

  61.                             PLAYING BACKGROUND MUSIC
  62.                             ------------------------

  64.   Jixxa  now sports a brand new feature -- the ability to play background
  65.   music while playing Jixxa!    Jixxa  can  optionally  play MIDI song files
  66.   as background  if you so  desire.  From the "Options" menu you can turn
  67.   the music feature on and off.   
  68.   
  69.   Make sure to  select  the  "Choose Music"  option  to select the directory 
  70.   where your MIDI music files are located.
  71.  
  72.   When using this feature, Jixxa will rotate  through  all of the .MID files
  73.   in the chosen directory.   Jixxa  "remembers"  the last file it played and
  74.   starts at the next "new"  music file the next time you play Jixxa, so that
  75.   you don't always hear the same songs played.

  77.   You must have a  sound  card  capable of playing MIDI music songs, such as 
  78.   a SoundBlaster or AdLib card.
