- <p>The following contains some technical tips for using Carbon Copy/Net.
- For the latest technical advice, please link to our <a HREF="http://www.microcom.com/cc/ccspt.htm">on-line
- technical page</a>.</p>

- <p><font COLOR="#FF0000"><b><font SIZE=+1>Important Reminder:</font></b>
- </font>You must run the ccwcopy.bat file for Carbon Copy/Net to run properly.
- You only have to do this once (preferably after installation, but anytime
- before using Carbon Copy is fine). To run the batch file...</p>

- <ul>
- <li>Exit Windows.</li>
-
- <li>From the DOS prompt, type <b>CD\CCWNS</b> to go to the install directory.
- </li>
-
- <li>Type <b>CCWCOPY.BAT</b> to execute the batch file. Restart Windows.</li>
- </ul>
-
- <p><b><font SIZE=+1>Firewalls:</font></b> Currently, Carbon Copy/Net does
- not support connections to other PCs through firewalls. Please see your
- network administrator for more information or check out Microcom's <a HREF="http://www.microcom.com/cc/ccspt.htm">on-line
- technical page</a> for the latest developments.</p>

- <p><b><font SIZE=+1>Your TCP/IP Address:</font></b> If you are installing
- Carbon Copy/Net while not connected to the Internet, you will receive a
- message that says "TCP/IP could not be found." DonÆt worry, when
- you connect to the Internet, Carbon Copy/Net will automatically find your
- TCP/IP address, and you will be able to make a remote control connection.
- To find out your TCP/IP address, choose Communications from the Carbon
- Copy Options menu. Please note that some Internet service providers give
- you a different TCP/IP address each time you connect to their service.
- </p>

- <p><b><font SIZE=+1>Online Services:</font></b> Carbon Copy/Net will not
- work if you connect to the Internet through an online service such as America
- Online or Compuserve. You must have a direct Internet connection with a
- TCP/IP address for Carbon Copy/Net to work properly. </p>

- <p><b><font SIZE=+1>Grayed Out Menu Items:</font></b> You may notice that
- some menu items, such as File Transfer and Chat, that are grayed out. While
- these features are not available in Carbon Copy/Net, they are available
- in the full version of <a HREF="cc.htm">Carbon Copy for Windows.</a></p>

- <p><b><font SIZE=+1>Netscape Version:</font> </b>Carbon Copy/Net will not
- run properly unless you are running Netscape Navigator 2.0 or greater.
- You must have Netscape installed <b>BEFORE</b> installing Carbon Copy/Net.</p>
-
- <p><b><font SIZE=+1>Performance: </font></b>Performance can vary depending
- on Internet traffic. </p>
- <a NAME="Call Another" /A>
- <p><b><font SIZE=+2>Call Another PC </font></b></p>
-
- <p><img src="ccplugc.gif" hspace=5 vspace=5 border=0 height=125 width =157 align=left >If
- you want you want to access another PC, this is the option you should choose.
- The other PC, located across the country or around the world must be connected
- to the Internet with a Netscape browser and also be in the "Wait for
- Call" mode. In order to call the other PC, you must enter the TCP/IP
- address of the other PC. You can find out the TCP/IP address of the other
- PC by choosing Communications from the Carbon Copy Options menu on the
- other PC and viewing the TCP/IP address. </p>

- <p>Once connected, you will be able to remotely control the other PC in
- a Window that will appear on your screen. Simply scroll around the window
- to access applications and documents on the other PC.</p>

- <p><b>Tip: </b>When remotely controlling another PC, use the <b>ALT, RIGHT
- SHIFT, S</b> keys to toggle between windowed and stretched mode. While
- in stretched mode, the other PC's entire screen appears in a window in
- your Netscape browser. While in windowed mode, you are viewing the actual
- screen resolution size of the other PC. To view the remote control session
- in full screen mode outside of your Netscape browser window, you must purchase
- the full version of <a HREF="cc.htm">Carbon Copy for Windows.</a></p>

- <p><b><font SIZE=+2>Call Microcom Demo PC </font></b></p>
-
- <p><img src="ccplugcm.gif" hspace=5 vspace=5 border=0 height=126 width =158 align=left >If
- you want to test drive remote control with Carbon Copy/Net
- <br>but you do not have another PC set up to access, choose this option.
- You will be able to access demo PCs set up at Microcom to experience the
- benefits of remote control.</p>

- <p>Once connected, you will be able to remotely control the Microcom demo
- PC in a Window that will appear on your screen. Simply scroll around the
- window to access applications and documents on the demo PC.</p>

- <p><b><font SIZE=+2>Wait for Call</font></b></p>
-
- <p><img src="ccplugw.gif" hspace=5 vspace=5 border=0 height=70 width =319 align=left >If
- you would like to make your PC available for another user to access, choose
- this option. Carbon Copy/Net Host will automatically enter into the "Wait
- for Call" mode. The other user will now able to connect to your PC.</p>

- <p><b><font SIZE=+2>E-mail Your Question to Support</font></b></p>

- <p>If you are having a technical problem, feel free to <a HREF="http://www.microcom.com/cgi-bin/mailto-2.pl">e-mail
- your question to our Tech Support group</a>. Please include the words "Netscape
- Plug-in" in your subject field. To avoid delays, please describe
- your problem in as much detail as possible. Include at least the following
- information for both computers:</p>
