  1. About The Microsoft Help Compiler

  4. Unfortunately I am not allowed to supply the Help Compiler with
  5. EasyHelp/Web since it belongs to Microsoft! Until I have enough
  6. registrations/users to buy a license to distribute with EasyHelp
  7. you have to source this yourself.

  9. The Help Compiler is normally included with development tools such
  10. as Turbo C++, Visual Basic etc. But the version that currently
  11. comes with these products does NOT work with Word 6. If you have
  12. HC.EXE or HC31.EXE you will need to get an upgrade.

  14. The Correct version that works with Word 6 is called HCP.EXE
  15. version 3.10.505. This is the extended version of the Compiler.

  17. There are a number of ways you can UPGRADE to the latest version
  18. of the Help Compiler:

  20. 1. From the Microsoft upgrade centre. (UK 0181 614 8000)

  22. 2. From the Microsoft bulletin board.

  26. 3. From Microsoft's ftp site.
  27.    Site Name: ftp.microsoft.com
  28.    Directory: Softlib/MSLFILES

  30. 4. From CompuServe. (WINSDK forum LIB 16 or WINHELP)

  32. The file should be called HC505.EXE. Unzip, and
  33. then just copy the files (hcp.exe and hcp.err) to the
  34. easyhelp\hc directory and the build process should work.
