  3. Overview:

  5. This Utility encodes binary files into a plain text format and 
  6. decodes the resulting files into their original state. The 
  7. encoding method used is called BinHex. This encoding method 
  8. works on any type of file, including formatted word processing 
  9. and spreadsheet files, graphics files, and even executable 
  10. files (i.e. programs or applications). The encoded file can 
  11. also be passed from computer to computer in its encoded form. 
  12. The encoding will remain intact and it will be equally 
  13. meaningless on all the machines until it is unencoded. To be 
  14. usable or readable it must be converted back to its original 
  15. format and be run on a compatible computer. This program is 
  16. compatible with the Macintosh version of BINHEX and with 
  17. POPMail (tm).
