  4. *                                                                       *
  5. * This  form contains  one or  more temporary  License Activation  Keys *
  6. * (LAK). The License Activation Keys contain information about the kind *
  7. * of licenses you  have been granted -  authorized capacity, expiration *
  8. * date,  and  so  on.  The  LAK activates  the  software  in  the  mode *
  9. * corresponding to  the options you are  licensed for. You will  not be *
  10. * able to use the software without a valid LAK.                         *
  11. *                                                                       *
  12. * Temporary LAKs  are used  for evaluation  kits, trial  licenses, beta *
  13. * testing, emergency  capacity boosts  and similar  purposes. Temporary *
  14. * LAKs always have an expiration date. When a temporary LAK expires, it *
  15. * is automatically removed from your license database.                  *
  16. *                                                                       *
  17. * The LAKs are issued to you  by L-Soft for our reciprocal convenience, *
  18. * as a tool  to help us carry  out the terms of  our evaluation, trial, *
  19. * beta-testing, licensing or  other agreement. The LAK  itself does not *
  20. * constitute a license, just as the ownership of a mundane key does not *
  21. * necessarily constitute  a right to  access the premises  it protects. *
  22. * From  the legal  perspective,  the LAK  is an  integral  part of  the *
  23. * software you are  licensing, and your right to copy  it is restricted *
  24. * by the licensing agreement, just as  your right to copy the source or *
  25. * object code is restricted.                                            *
  26. *                                                                       *
  27. * Note: L-Soft  may wish to  make certain LAKs publicly  available, for *
  28. * evaluation/demonstration purposes.  The fact that such  LAKs are made *
  29. * available without restrictions should not  be construed to imply that *
  30. * other LAKs are publicly available.                                    *

  33. ************************* How to install a LAK **************************
  34. *************************************************************************
  35. *                                                                       *
  36. * 1. Create a disk file with the license information supplied below. If *
  37. *    you received this license registration form electronically, simply *
  38. *    delete the mail  headers and other extraneous  information (you do *
  39. *    not need to  remove the present instructions). If  you received it *
  40. *    via FAX or  postal mail, you will have to  retype the information. *
  41. *    Please  observe  spacing carefully.  To  make  the LAK  easier  to *
  42. *    transcribe, we always insert multiple  blanks where one is needed. *
  43. *    Thus, unless you see a big white  space on the FAX, you should not *
  44. *    insert any blank.                                                  *

  46. * 2. Make a backup copy of the file you have just created.              *
  47. *                                                                       *
  48. * 3. Install  a copy of  the file under  the name LICENSE.MERGE  in the *
  49. *    product's main directory.                                          *

  51. *    - LISTSERV for unix: ~listserv/home/license.merge                  *
  52. *                                                                       *
  53. *    - LISTSERV for VM: LICENSE MERGE A1                                *
  54. *                                                                       *
  55. *    - LISTSERV for VMS: LISTSERV_LISTS_DIR:LICENSE.MERGE               *
  56. *                                                                       *
  57. *    - LISTSERV  for  Windows:   MAIN\LICENSE.MERGE  relative  to  your *
  58. *      LISTSERV root directory (eg C:\LISTSERV\MAIN\LICENSE.MERGE).     *
  59. *                                                                       *
  60. * 4. Restart  the product.  It will  compile  the new  LAK, verify  its *
  61. *    integrity, and merge it into its license database. If no error was *
  62. *    detected, it will then delete  the LICENSE.MERGE file. This is why *
  63. *    you must make a backup copy  of the license file before activating *
  64. *    it. The LAK will of course remain in the license database, but you *
  65. *    may need the original in case of hardware failure.                 *
  66. *                                                                       *
  67. * If you  have several  LAKs to register,  to may do  this in  a single *
  68. * operation. The LICENSE.MERGE file can accomodate any number of LAKs.  *
