  2. MIDI Gate for Windows by PRS Corporation

  6. -----------------Short Description-----------------
  7. MIDI Gate can be used either as a stand-alone MIDI player or as
  8. a W.W.Web browser helper application.
  9.  
  10. - MidiGate will start PLAYING as soon as given a filename argument.
  11. - Seek feature by pointing to the gauge
  12.  
  13. Some new features have been added to the latest releases.
  14. - <NEW> Queue all files in one instance
  15. - <NEW> Save and recall your favorite queues
  16. - <NEW> Looping, auto-exit, auto-stop control
  17. - <NEW> "Stay-on-top" function
  18. - Scan for text in the midi file (while playing)
  19. - Play one of three midi reset files (GM, GS, Patches)
  20. - Display path and length of file
  21. - Invoke mixer

  23. Click the "Hint" key in the About form to get an idea...

  25. You should tell your browser that Midi Gate should be invoked
  26. whenever a Mime = Audio/Midi (or whatever your server sends)
  27. file is received.
  28. MIDI Gate will automatically play a MIDI sequence when:
  29.     1) the browser receives a file with a Mime=Midi header
  30.     2) it is given a filename as an argument;
  31. otherwise, it will present a directory and file list to choose
  32. a sequence interactively.

  34. In case (1) and (2), the sequence will be played even if the file
  35. received or given has an extension <> ".mid" - which does happen!
  36. The program will queue itself in if a sequence is received/given
  37. before another one has finished playing. At the end of play,
  38. the program automatically terminates, unless you defeat that
  39. function by clicking the checkbox at the end of the gauge.

  41. Finally, although the program is automatically reduced to an
  42. icon at start up, it can be restored if one wishes to see or
  43. control the status of the player.

  45. --------------------Minimum Requirements--------------------
  46. MIDI Gate for MS Windows require the following:
  47.     - IBM PC compatible machine;
  48.     - MS Windows Version 3.1 or later;
  49.     - Microsoft (or compatible) mouse;
  50.     - MIDI hardware (sound card at minimum) and MIDI drivers;
  51.     - GM_Reset.mid, GS_Reset.mid, PA_Reset.mid should be placed in the
  52.       same directory as MidiGate.exe. (These files are in the setup kit.)
  53.     - VBRUN300.DLL in the \Windows\System subdirectory.
  54.       NOTE: If you do not already have VBRUN300.DLL, you can
  55.       download it with FTP from ftp.ima.net (look for VBRUN300.ZIP
  56.       in the /pub/prs directory.) Do this BEFORE running SETUP.EXE
