  1. Welcome to HUGO II, WHODUNIT?

  3. Hugo II is the sequel to Hugo's
  4. House of Horrors in which Hugo
  5. overcame extreme odds to snatch
  6. his beloved Penelope from the
  7. occupants of the haunted house.
  8.  
  9. In Hugo II we join our intrepid
  10. heroes as they attempt to enjoy
  11. a much-needed vacation at the
  12. house of Hugo's Great Uncle
  13. Horace.  All is not as it seems
  14. though, and our heroes get
  15. caught up in a tale of mystery,
  16. suspense and adventure...

  20. You may control Hugo's motion with
  21. the arrow keys or keypad.  You may
  22. also give him simple commands to
  23. pick up or look at something which
  24. catches your eye.  A very useful
  25. phrase would be "open the door",
  26. on the first screen, for example.
  27. Others are "look", and "look at..."
  28. You may also try other commands if
  29. you think they would help, such as
  30. "talk to..." or "listen" etc.

  32. On your travels, be on the lookout
  33. for objects (sometimes hidden) which
  34. may prove useful in your travels.

  38. Some notes on the function keys:
  39. Press F2 to toggle the sound on/off
  40.  
  41. F4 & F5 allow you to save & restore
  42. your game.  This is very useful just
  43. before you are about to enter a new
  44. room or do something dangerous!
  45. You can also type SAVE or RESTORE
  46. instead of using the function keys.

  48. F6 allows you to see what objects
  49. you are currently carrying.

  53. F9 is the "Boss Button" for people
  54. who like to sneak in a game during
  55. office hours!  It simply shells you
  56. out to DOS.  You must hit EXIT to
  57. rejoin your game.

  59. This button will allow you to keep
  60. a game going "in the background"
  61. while you do your normal work in
  62. its DOS shell!
