  6. galaxy, commanding a force of powerful starships and land units to help to

  59. TUTORIAL
  60.  
  61. There is an on-line tutorial available to you once you execute CRUSADE
  62. from Windows.  It is located within the HELP information which can be
  63. accessed by selecting the "Help" menu item.
  64.  
  65. Installation instructions are provided later in this file.

  67. The crusade contained in 1CRU113.ZIP is called "sharstar.g" and takes place
  68. within the SharStar Galaxy.  It is the first crusade you should play with
  69. this version of CRUSADE.  Instructions for loading the crusade can be found 
  70. within the tutorial.  
  71.  
  72. A more difficult crusade is provided called "hardstar.g" which you should 
  73. play after completing the "sharstar.g" crusade.

  76. CRUSADE COMPUTER SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  77.  
  78. The CRUSADE game requires MS Windows 3.1 or greater to run.  Your computer
  79. should be an IBM PC Compatible 386, 486 or Pentium that operates at 25Hz
  80. or faster, and contains at least 4MB of Memory.  CRUSADE needs 4MB of free
  81. hard disk storage to uncompress and operate.
  82.  
  83. If you have a 386 based computer, then you should play CRUSADE at the
  84. 640x480x16 resolution to obtain the best game performance.
  85.  
  86. If you have a 486 based computer, then you can play CRUSADE up to the
  87. 800x600x256 resolution for the best performance.  CRUSADE can play
  88. at higher resolutions.  However, CRUSADE will perform better at the 
  89. lower resolutions.

  91. If you have a Pentium based computer, then you should enjoy excellent
  92. performance from CRUSADE at any supported resolution.

  95. SOUND CARD SUPPORT
  96.  
  97. Sound Support is provided through the use of MPC2 Compatible Soundcards.
  98. Most of the popular soundcards (SoundBlaster, Pro Audio, Turtle Beach, etc.)
  99. are MPC2 Compatible.  The soundcard package typically contains a symbol
  100. that indicates MS Windows compatibility, which often, but not always, means
  101. the soundcard is MPC2 Compatible.  If you have a question regarding your
  102. soundcard, then contact the dealer where you obtained the soundcard, or
  103. better yet, contact the manufacturer of the soundcard.

  106. INSTALLATION
  107.  
  108. CRUSADE can be installed using a "setup.exe" program contained within
  109. the zip file or by using the Program Manager in Windows.
  110.  
  111. You should place the CIS113.ZIP file in a directory of its own, and 
  112. use PKUNZIP to unzip it.  
  113.  
  114. USING "SETUP.EXE" TO INSTALL CRUSADE
  115.  
  116. After unzipping the CIS113.ZIP file, use the Program Manger in Windows 
  117. to run the installation setup program, "setup.exe".
  118.  
  119. From the Program Manager menu:
  120.  
  121. 1) Select FILE/RUN.
  122. 2) Select BROWSE.  Select the disk/directory where the unzipped contents
  123.    of CIS113.ZIP currently reside.
  124. 3) Select "setup.exe" from the list of files extracted from CIS113.ZIP
  125.    and click OK.
  126. 4) Follow the prompts provided by the setup program to move CRUSADE to
  127.    another disk/directory, and to create a program item to execute it.

  130. USING PROGRAM MANAGER TO INSTALL CRUSADE
  131.  
  132. After unzipping the CIS113.ZIP file, use the Program Manger in Windows 
  133. to create a program item for CRUSADE, which should execute the 
  134. "star.exe" program.

  136. From the Program Manager menu:
  137.  
  138. 1) Select FILE/NEW.  Accept the "Program Item" setting and click OK.
  139. 2) Enter "Crusade in Space" in the "Description" field.
  140. 3) Select BROWSE.  Select the disk/directory where the unzipped contents
  141.    of CIS113.ZIP currently reside.
  142. 4) Select "star.exe" from the list of files extracted from CIS113.ZIP
  143.    and click OK.
  144. 5) Enter the complete path (disk/directory) where the unzipped contents
  145.    of CIS113.ZIP currently reside, in the "Working Directory" field.
  146. 6) Select CHANGE ICON, select the CRUSADE icon.
  147. 7) Click OK to complete the creation of the program item.

  150. REGISTRATION

  152. When you register CRUSADE you will receive the CRUSADE GENERATOR which will
  153. allow you to create an unlimited number of variably sized and populated
  154. galaxys with the "Galaxy Generation Feature"; and will allow you to create an
  155. unlimited number of games of various difficulty, alien mix and to even
  156. customize the complement of forces each side receives with it's "Game
  157. Generation Feature".

  159. You also will receive the licensed version of the CRUSADE PLAYER (which 
  160. does not have finite stardates); which can play the games you generate,
  161. and the four (4) SPECIAL CRUSADES that are offered below.

  167.    the development of the Terrans out into the KausKais Galaxy.
