  4. Darn-iT! is a mind-bending puzzler for Windows 3.1 and Win 95.
  5. It features 256 colors, nifty graphics, 8-bit sound and music.
  6. It needs VBRUN300.DLL which can be obtained from any FTP site,
  7. BBS, or from the Microsoft Software Library. (Chances are that
  8. you already have VBRUN300.DLL on your computer).

  10. This game is FREE-WARE. If you paid even one cent for 
  11. this game, you should go and demand you money back and totally
  12. blacklist the person who sold this game to you.

  14. This game was designed and created from scratch in less than a
  15. day.

  19. GAME PLAY
  20. =========
  21. The Darn-iTs are coming out of the sewers and it's your
  22. job to stop them. Click on a Darn-iT to push it back into
  23. the manhole. Click on a man-hole to pop out the Darn-iT it
  24. contains. But wait! That's not all. The Darn-iTs have a 
  25. cunning strategy to vex you. Every time you push or pop a 
  26. Darn-iT, the Darn-iT sends a secret message to the other 
  27. Darn-iTs on its left, right, top, and bottom, telling them 
  28. to toggle their state. As a result, every click effects 
  29. anywhere from 3 to 5 Darn-iTs.

  31. Your objective is to work out a strategy for putting all the
  32. Darn-iTs into their manholes. This is way harder than it 
  33. sounds. Go ahead and try your luck at saving the world from 
  34. the Darn-iTs.
  35.  
  36. When you start Darn-iT or select the New Game option, the 
  37. computer sets up a playing field with all Darn-iTs in their
  38. manholes and then scrambles it using random movements. 
  39. Theoretically, then, every game has at least one solution. 
  40. (Though you may not believe this once you start playing).

  42. Remember the more you play, the easier it will be for you to
  43. see patterns and plan strategies.

  47. Darn-iT Menu Options
  48. ====================
  49. The following are the menu options for Darn-iT:

  51. File Menu
  52.     New Game : Starts New Game
  53.  
  54.     Solve Game : When you are totally frustated and dont
  55.         believe the game can be solved, use this
  56.         option to solve the game.
  57.  
  58.     Quit : Ends the Game
  59.  
  60. Options Menu
  61.     Randomness : Randomness is the number of random moves
  62.         the computer makes to set up a new game. For
  63.         example, if you select Randomness = 1, the
  64.         computer makes only 1 random move to set up 
  65.         a new game. This is obviously a very easy game.
  66.         The higher the randomness value, the less likely
  67.         you will be to solve the game easily.

  69.     Sound : Toggles sound on and off
  70.  
  71.     Undo Last Move : Undoes the last move. This is a multiple
  72.         undo feature and can be used to step right back
  73.         to the solution. Use it as a hint feature.

  85. Use a mouse to click on the Darn-iTs. Use the menu options to

  92. This game uses 256 color graphics and will not play in any other
  93. color setting for your screen. The screen layout for the game may
  94. also be screwed up in a Large Font setting. Apart from these two
  95. facts there are no known problems with this game.
