The installation procedure records the changes made to your system to a file called INSTALL.LOG in the installation directory (by default, C:\program files\zone labs\zonealarm).

* IMPORTANT NOTE FOR USERS UPGRADING FROM PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF ZONEALARM *
Installing ZoneAlarm Pro upgrades your existing ZoneAlarm installation, effectively removing the old ZoneAlarm from your computer and replacing it with ZoneAlarm Pro files. The new ZoneAlarm Pro will replace the functionality of the old ZoneAlarm product you used to run. Note that shortcuts to ZoneAlarm.EXE will still be usable, as will existing MailSafe quarantined files you had set up in the old ZoneAlarm.
Upgrading an existing installation of ZoneAlarm or ZoneAlarm Pro requires that you reboot the system before running the newly installed version. This is particularly important for Windows 2000 and XP users, to ensure the system does not restore the previous TrueVector device driver.
To uninstall ZoneAlarm Pro, select the Start | Programs | Zone Labs | Uninstall ZoneAlarm Pro item on the main Windows menu.
INSTALLATION OPTION
If youÆve previously run ZoneAlarm or ZoneAlarm Pro and are installing a new version, the installer will now ask if youÆd like to do a clean install to delete your previous settings and start with default settings. Deleting your previous settings is highly recommended if you have been experiencing problems with the previous version. If you delete the previous settings, you will lose all program settings and other configurations and you will revert to the default settings that come standard with the product when freshly installed.
5. Running ZoneAlarm Pro
You can start ZoneAlarm Pro by choosing the Start | Programs | Zone Labs | ZoneAlarm Pro item on the main Windows menu. ZoneAlarm Pro will also start automatically each time you start the computer.
To read the ZoneAlarm Pro Help page, press the F1 key on the ZoneAlarm Pro application window or click the Help icon located at the top right of the interface.

8. Known problems
Known Issues:
------------
1. BSOD and ZoneAlarm Pro crashes caused by old graphics drivers. Solution is to either update the driver or try changing the driver settings to slow down the hardware acceleration for that driver. To do this, go to Windows display properties, settings, Advanced, Performance. Then set hardware acceleration to the second notch from the left.
2. Starting the ZoneAlarm Pro uninstaller and then Pressing cancel on the first uninstall dialogue confirmation message may erroneously bring up an installation dialogue box. Click "Exit Setup" to get rid of this dialogue and resume normal ZoneAlarm Pro operation, or click "Resume" to return to the uninstaller.
Legacy:
-------
- There have been limited cases where ZoneAlarm Pro will forget a user's program settings. This may be a sign of corrupt settings. The best way to fix corrupt settings is to reinstall ZoneAlarm Pro opting to delete the program settings and configurations from your previous installation and start from scratch.
- 16-bit applications that access the Internet register under Windows NT as "NTVDM.EXE". You can only enable or disable permissions for 16-bit applications as a group.
- If ZoneAlarm Pro starts up and does not appear to be reporting on Internet activity, open the interface and look at the top right of the screen for indicator text that is either green and reads All Systems Active or is red and reads Error: Please Reboot. If error text is present, please reboot. You may check the version numbers of ZoneAlarm Pro, TrueVector security engine and Driver version by opening the Overview panel, selecting the Product Info tab and looking under Version Information.
- The access locks and permissions you set using ZoneAlarm Pro continue to be enforced by the TrueVector Internet Monitor engine when the ZoneAlarm Pro user interface is not running. This protects your computer when you're not logged on.
- Setting the security level to high on a Windows ME ICS gateway may block FTP clients.
- Running more than one e-mail content scanning program on the same computer is not recommended.
