  1. J-PERK INSTALL NOTES

  9. If you receive the following error after running J-Perk:
  10.  
  11.     "A required .DLL file, MSVBVM60.DLL, was not found"
  12.  
  13. and J-Perk won't run correctly, you must download 
  14. and install the Visual Basic 6 runtime files.
  15. Download them from:
  16.  
  17.     http://www.mcwebsoftware.com/runtime

  20. Unzip the VB6 runtime zip file (SIMVB6_6.ZIP)
  21. Run Setup.exe
  22.  
  23. This file will install the files that J-Perk needs 
  24. in order to execute correctly.  When it has completed
  25. the installation, then run J-Perk.

  35. INSTALLATION
  36. ============
  37. To install run the setup.exe file and follow the 
  38. on-screen instructions.
  39.  
  40. If Setup determines that some of the files are already on
  41. the system, or if the software is installed a second
  42. time, the install progress bar won't always go
  43. to 100%.  This is "normal". Also, after the setup
  44. runs there may be an empty button with no caption
  45. on the task bar. Clicking it will make it go away.
  46. This is "normal" too.

  48. If you encounter error messages during installation 
  49. which give you the option to "Abort, Ignore, Retry", 
  50. first retry, then if that doesn't work choose Ignore 
  51. each time it asks you.
  52. When setup completes, it is most likely that J-Perk 
  53. will work, but the applets did not install.  Find the 
  54. applet pack (applets.zip) included with the J-Perk 
  55. evaluation zip file and unzip it into your J-Perk 
  56. directory.  This should do the trick.

  59. Missing DLLs
  60. ------------
  61. If the installation doesn't start and you get a message 
  62. you're missing MFCxxx.DLL, you do not have some
  63. of the standard Windows support DLL files.
  64.  
  65. Under Windows 95, this may have happened because
  66. Win95 was installed with Custom or Compact setup
  67. options. You can nudge Win95 to install the needed
  68. DLLs by installing WordPad. From Control Panel,
  69. click Add/Remove Programs. Click the Windows Setup
  70. tab and double-click Accessories. Scroll down to
  71. the bottom of the list and check WordPad. OK your
  72. way out to complete the installation.
