  3.         LYNQ TROUBLESHOOTING
  4.

  8. Problem:  "Cannot find file" message appears, and LYNQ quits.
  9.  
  10. Cause:    There are files missing in your Lynq directory.
  11.  
  12. Solution: Re-install Lynq.  Make sure you have a complete version.  
  13. Shareware versions can be downloaded from a variety of sources
  14. which are listed at the end of this document. If you are missing files
  15. from your registered version, contact technical support.
  16.  
  17. ========================================================

  19. Problem:  "Not enough Memory" message appears and LYNQ quits.
  20.  
  21. Cause:    There is not enough system RAM currently available to run LYNQ.  
  22.  
  23. Solution: Run SETUP and enable virtual memory, setting the memory to
  24. the amount of actual memory in your machine. If you are running SMARTDRV,
  25. you can set it so it uses less system RAM. If you don't have at least 4 Meg of
  26. system RAM, you won't have much luck running LYNQ
  27.  
  28. Cause:    LYNQ is being run from another application such as DOSSHELL,
  29. which won't release memory to LYNQ.
  30.  
  31. Solution: Run Lynq files from the DOS PROMPT only.
  32.  
  33. ========================================================
  34.  
  35. Problem:  I have a mouse, but there is no mouse cursor on my screen.
  36.  
  37. Cause:    Mouse drivers have not been installed.
  38.  
  39. Solution: Install the mouse drivers.  Usually as easy as typing the
  40. command MOUSE at the command line prompt. If you have a mouse 
  41. which uses different drivers, consult your hardware user manual and
  42. find the name of the DOS mouse driver.

  46. Problem:  I have a sound card, but I get no music.
  47.  
  48. Cause:    The proper I/O port has not been configured from SETUP.
  49.  
  50. Solution: Run SETUP and configure the I/O port as specified in your
  51. soundcard's user manual.
  52.  
  53. Cause:    The FM sound card is not Adlib or SoundBlaster compatible.
  54.  
  55. Soultion: Check your user manual to make sure your sound card is Adlib
  56. or SoundBlaster FM compatible.
  57.  
  58. ========================================================

  60. Problem:  I have a sound card, but I get no sound.
  61.  
  62. Cause:    The proper I/O port has not been configured from SETUP.

  64. Solution: Run SETUP and configure the I/O port as specified in your
  65. soundcard's user manual.

  67. Cause:    The soundcard is not SoundBlaster compatible.
  68.  
  69. Solution: If you have an Adlib card, you will only be able to get music,
  70. as these cards were made before it was common to put digital 
  71. signal processors on board.

  75. Problem:  I can't solve the puzzles.
  76.  
  77. Cause:    Giving up too soon.
  78.  
  79. Solution: Check the README.TXT file for hints, on-line help for
  80. instrucutions. All the puzzles have been checked and verified by
  81. Anarchy  Enterprises Inc., and its Beta testers, that is to say, they 
  82. all work! Persistance pays!
