  6. This README provides information on the following topics:

  19. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  20. ----------------------

  22. To use Eudora Pro, you must have the following:
  23.  
  24. -  IBM PC or compatible.
  25. -  Microsoft Windows 3.1 for 16-bit version; Microsoft Windows 95
  26.     or Windows NT 3.5 for 32-bit version.
  27. -  Winsock 1.1 API compliant networking package (not needed for
  28.     serial connection).
  29. -  A mail account with an Internet Service Provider or an Internet-style
  30. network.
  31. -  Access to your mail account via a modem (9600 bps or higher recommended)
  32.     or Internet-style network connection.

  36. INSTALLATION
  37. --------------------

  39. To install Eudora, do the following:
  40.  
  41. 1.    Exit any applications you are running.
  42.  
  43. 2.    If you are installing from diskette, insert the Eudora Pro diskette 1
  44. of 2
  45.       into drive A: of your PC. Then select Run... from the Start menu,
  46.       enter A:Setup.exe, and click OK.
  47.  
  48.       If you are installing from a software archive, put the archive into a
  49.       directory on your PC and double-click on iy to unpack it into the same
  50.       directory. Then, double-click on Setup.exe.
  51.  
  52.       If you are installing from CD-ROM, insert the CD-RM into the drive,
  53.       and double-click on its icon. Then, double-click on Setup.exe.
  54.  
  55. 3.    Read the Welcome screen, then click Next.
  56.       The Software License Agreement is displayed.
  57.  
  58. 4.    Read the Software License Agreement and click Next (you can also
  59.       save or print the Agreement).
  60.  
  61. 5.    Enter your User Code, then click Next. Your User Code is printed on the
  62.       inside cover of this manual, or, if you are part of a multi-user
  63.       site, it should be provided to you by your company╒s e-mail administrator.
  64.       If you purchased Eudora by electronic distribution, the User Code is in 
  65.       the e-mail message you received when you purchased the product.
  66.  
  67. 6.    Specify a directory to install Eudora Pro, then click Next.
  68.       Note:    If you are installing Eudora as an upgrade to your current
  69.       Eudora Pro or Eudora Light, select your current Eudora directory.
  70.       All  your  messages, mailboxes, folders, and options will be
  71.       maintained.  If you are installing Eudora for the first time, you can
  72.       select any directory you want.
  73.  
  74. 7.    Select the version of the software that you want to install, 16- or
  75.       32-bit.  Based on the operating system and connectivity software that 
  76.       you are running, the Setup program recommends an appropriate version.
  77.  
  78. 8.    Verify that the displayed settings are correct, then click Next (or
  79.       use the Back button if you need to go back and make changes).
  80.  
  81. 9.    If you are installing from diskette, you are prompted to insert
  82.       Diskette 2 of 2 into drive A:.
  83.  
  84. 10.      Eudora is installed in the destination directory, and you are
  85.       prompted for whether or not you want to view the README file. Click Yes.

  89. ELECTRONIC USER MANUAL

  92. The Eudora Pro for Windows User Manual will be installed into the
  93. Eudora directory that you choose during installation. It is a PDF (Portable
  94. Data Format) file, and can be viewed using Adobe Acrobat. If you don't
  95. have the Acrobat viewer, you can get it from the Eudora ftp site:

  103. If you experience something you think might be a bug in Eudora, please
  104. report it by sending a message to eudora-bugs@eudora.com. Describe what
  105. you did, what happened, what version of Eudora you have, any error messages
  106. Eudora gave (the numbers in ()'s are especially important), what kind of
  107. computer you have, which operating system you're using, and
  108. anything else you think might be relevant.

  110. You will receive an automated response indicating that your bug report has
  111. been received and forwarded to our engineering staff. Unless additional
  112. information is needed, you will not receive a direct response.
