  44. Ensure the files PATCH.BAT, OSI.EXE, and PATCH17E.DAT are in 
  45. your Privateer 2: The Darkening directory.  (usually C:\DARK)  
  46. From your Privateer 2 directory, type "PATCH" and press [ENTER].
  47.  
  48. You should receive a message indicating success.  After the patch
  49. has been correctly installed, when starting Privateer 2, you
  50. will receive the message:

  54. If you see this message, the patch is correctly installed.

  59. [2.0]    What's New
  60.  
  61.  
  62. *    New Movie Player
  63.     Some people experienced a lockup on the Origin logo, and 
  64.     various other places.  The new movie player should fix
  65.     this problem.
  66.  
  67.  
  68. *    Rendition based Movie lockups
  69.     Video cards using the Rendition Verte chipset will usually
  70.     lockup during the OSI movie.  This is because the video 
  71.     mode the movie player uses is not supported by the video 
  72.     card.  The solution was to write a special movie player
  73.     specifically for these cards.  To activate this mode, type
  74.     "DARK -svga" at the command line.  This will use the 
  75.     SVGA movie player specifically written for these cards.
  76.     The following cards are affected:
  77.     
  78.     Canopus Total 3D
  79.     Sierra Screamin' 3D
  80.     Creative Labs 3D Blaster
  81.     Intergraph Intense 3D
  82.  
  83.     NOTE: While the movie player will no longer lock up, 
  84.     some cards will exibit palette flashes while movies 
  85.     are playing.

  88. *    "Setstreamspeed" error message resolved
  89.     Several customers encountered an error message when attempting
  90.     to land on a planet.  This problem has been fixed.
  91.

  93. *    Native support for CH Flightstick Pro and Thrustmaster
  94.     joysticks has been added.  You can select the appropriate
  95.     joystick from the Spaceflight Options Menu.  The table 
  96.     below describes the various available views:

  99.     Hat   - selects the four views.
  100.     Main Trigger - Fires the selected laser(s).
  101.     Button "A"   - Selects target under the HUD cursor
  102.              - When held down rolls in the direction of the
  103.                stick
  104.     Button "B"   - Activates the Afterburners
  105.     Button "C"   - Fires the currently selected missile(s)

  108. *    Additional Keyboard Keys
  109.     Several keys have been added to increase the functionality 
  110.     of programmable joysticks.  The table below indicates
  111.     the new keys and their function:

  113.     SPACEBAR     - Fire selected laser(s)
  114.     <         - Roll counterclockwise.
  115.     >         - Roll Clockwise.

  118. *    Invulnerability added
  119.     Due to demand, invulnerability has been added as on option
  120.     from the Spaceflight Options Menu.

  123. *    News Bulletins
  124.     Certain customers encountered problems with certain News 
  125.     Briefs.  This problem has been fixed.

  128. *    Wingman Lockup
  129.     Certain customers could have the game lockup if they were
  130.     out of wingmen.  This problem has been fixed.

  133. *     Targeting during a roll
  134.     During spaceflight, while executing a roll, the targeting
  135.     computer would sometimes change targets.  This problem
  136.     has been fixed.

  139. *    Gamma Correction
  140.     Gamma Correction/Brightness of movies can be controlled 
  141.     with the + and - keys.  Previously, the settings were 
  142.     not saved between movies.  This problem is now fixed.

  145. *    CD-ROM Disc Swap
  146.     When requesting the next CD, users were required to hit
  147.     the spacebar after inserting the CD.  Privateer 2 will
  148.     now detect the new CD and continue without user 
  149.     intervention.

  152. *    Assertion Failed
  153.     Certain users would receive an Assertion Failed error
  154.     message in spaceflight if for some reason the game
  155.     was not able to allocate enough memory for a function.
  156.     This problem has been fixed.

  173.     *   The EXACT error message displayed (very important!)

  175.     *   A copy of your CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files

  177.     *   A detailed list of the hardware and who the manufacturer is
  178.  
  179.     *   The results of a MEM /C statement
  180.  
  181.     *   Information on your sound card including the manufacturer 
  182.             and settings
  183.  
  184.     *   Information on your video card and the manufacturer
  185.  
  186.     *   Any information you feel would be helpful
