  11. What happens when the studied seriousness of chess meets up with National
  12. Lampoon's brand of bizarre humor? Chess Maniac 5 Billion and 1! The perfect
  13. blend of twisted jokes and computer hacking combine to make the world's first
  14. humorous chess game.

  16. Chess Maniac is not a droll, dry chess game, but a roll-in-the-hay rollicking
  17. parody of those chess games that pound on you time and time again. Yes, this
  18. game you can actually beat! But at the higher levels, watch out!

  20. Live actors were filmed and digitized for full-motion action on your
  21. chessboard. Combine this with crisp digitized sound, soundtrack-like music and
  22. full 256-color VGA graphics and you have a sure crowd pleaser. So step back
  23. and enjoy all that is National Lampoon's Chess Maniac 5 Billion and 1!

  25. NOTE: This version of National Lampoon's Chess Maniac 5 Billion and 1! is a
  26. watchable demo only. It will continuously loop until you hit Alt-X. It is by no
  27. means a complete version of the game since many features had to be removed to
  28. make it fit on one disk. You can activate the menu bar by pressing Esc and
  29. using the arrow keys, but what options are available there are up to the
  30. Chess Maniac's whim!

  48. *  Sound Blaster, Pro Audio Spectrum and Roland sound cards supported

  54. Demo requirements:

  56. You must have the following to install the Chess Maniac 5 Billion and 1! demo:
  57. *  IBM (or compatible) 80386 or better with 2MB RAM (EMS needed)
  58. *  DOS 5.0
  59. *  VGA monitor and card
  60. *  Hard drive with at least 2.5MB free space
  61. *  Sound Blaster optional for sound effects

  63. How to install:
  64. --------------
  65. 1) Insert the Chess Maniac demo disk into your 3.5" floppy drive.
  66. 2) Change to that floppy drive. (Example: type "B:" and hit Enter if your
  67.    3.5" drive is drive B.)
  68. 3) Type "INSTALL C:\CM5DEMO" and hit Enter to install the Chess Maniac demo
  69.    to your hard drive. (If you wish to install the demo to another drive,
  70.    change the "C:" above to another letter. You can also change the
  71.    installation path if you want the demo in another directory.)
  72. 4) Type "CM5" and hit Enter to run the demo.
