- New features in GromitChess 1.1
- ===============================
-
- Here you only find differences to version 1.0. If you have an older version
- more things may have changed.
-
- Many new features were suggested by users who sent me comments or bugreports,
- some names are given below. Thanks to everyone who helped me!
-
-
- - Game - Goto position
- Enables you to jump directly to the position after move x, instead of
- replaying every single move.
- (Thanks to Manfred Meiler.)
-
- - Gromit - use Endgamedatabase
- Gromit is now able to read the 'Edwards tablebases'. These were compiled
- by Steven J. Edwards and are available from
- ftp://caissa.onenet.net/chess/pub/TB.
- If the tablebases are available, Gromit plays most 4-man-endgames
- perfectly and you often get messages like 'mate in 31' after seconds.
- This also improves >=5-man-endgames if 4-man-endgame-position are
- reached anywhere in the searchtree.
-
- - Some little improvements in the openingbook.
- (Thanks to Alastair Scott for playing testgames.)
-
- - Some little improvements in the evaluationfunction.
- (Thanks to Tom King and Tom Kerrigan.)
-
- - Small bugfixes. And in fact one serious bug. GromitChess 1.1 should
- play stronger than GromitChess 1.0!
- (Thanks to Manfred Meiler for his detailed help.
- Thanks to Thorsten Czub and Wilfried Guthmann.)
-
- Thanks to Uwe Immel and the CSS for publishing GromitChess 1.0 on the
- readers-disk of the CSS (Computerschach & Spiele, German computerchess-
- magazine).
-
- Lots of thanks to Heinz Gruner, who generously sponsored Gromit although it
- is freeware. This makes it easier for me to publish Gromit via internet,
- email and snailmail.
